Properties Of Indrajau And Ayurvedic Treatment From It

 


Introduction

Indrajau plant is a wild plant. Its plant is 5-10 feet tall. Its leaves are long like almond leaves. These leaves are used a lot in Konkan of Maharashtra. Vegetable is made from its flowers.
It bears pods, which are thin and long, these pods are also used to make vegetables and pickles. A seed like barley comes out from inside the pods. That is called Indrajau. It is harmful for headache and people with normal nature. To remove its defects, coriander is added to it. We can also compare it with nutmeg. Its flowers are also bitter. A dish is also made from them. There are two species of Indrajau tree and there are some differences between these two.

Treatment of various diseases

1. Jaundice:

Extract the juice of black Indrajau seeds and consume it little by little for three days.

2. Chronic fever:

Give decoction of Indrajau tree bark and giloy or soak the bark in water at night and filter that water in the morning and give it to drink.
This cures chronic fever.

3. Cholera:

Grate Indrajau root and castor root in buttermilk water and add a little asafoetida and drink it.

4. Stomach cramps:


Soak Indrajau seeds in water after heating them a little, later consume that water. This cures stomach cramps.


5. Children's diarrhea:


Grate Indrajau root in buttermilk water and add a little asafoetida and drink it. This stops diarrhea in children.

6. Stones:

Powder of Indra barley and sal ammoniac should be added to milk or rice washed water and drunk.
This dissolves the stones and they come out. The bark of Indra barley should be ground in curd and given to drink. This destroys the stones.

7. Bowels:

Grind the bark of Indra barley and rock salt in cow's urine and apply it.


8. Pus flowing from the ears:

Powder of the bark of Indra barley tree should be filtered through a cloth and put in the ear and after this the juice of Makhmali leaves should be put in the ear.

9. Pain:

Powder of Indra barley should be given with hot water.


10. Vata colic:


Make a decoction of Indra barley and add Sanchar and roasted asafoetida to it and drink it. This destroys Vata colic.

11. Vata fever:

Grind 10 grams of Indra barley bark very finely and add it to 50 grams of water and filter it through a cloth and drink it.


12. Ascites:

Grind the root of Indra barley in water and drink it daily for fourteen or twenty one days to cure ascites.

13. Diarrhea in fever:

Make a decoction of 10 grams of Indra barley by adding it to some water, add honey to it and drink it.
This cures all types of fever.

14. Contraception:

Grind and filter 10 grams of Indra barley, Suvasupari, Sheetalmirch, dry ginger and add 20 grams of sugar to it. This should be used in the quantity of 5 grams each in the morning and evening for three days continuously after the menstruation ends.
This prevents pregnancy for three years.

15. Mouth ulcers:

Grind 10 grams each of Indra barley and black cumin and make a powder. Apply this powder twice a day on ulcers to cure them.

16. Diarrhoea:


Diarrhea can be cured by grinding Indra-barley and giving 3 grams of powder with cold water 3 times a day.


Extract juice from the bark of Indra-barley and give it to the child.

Children get relief from diarrhea by grinding the root of Indra-barley with water extracted from buttermilk and adding a little asafoetida.

All types of diarrhea can be cured by grinding the root bark of Indra-barley and Atis in equal quantities and making a powder.
Licking about 2 grams of it with honey 3 to 4 times a day.

Boil 40 gms of Indrajau root bark and 40 gms of pomegranate peel separately in 320 gms of water. When little water is left, remove the peels and filter them.
Then mix both of them together and cook again on fire. When the decoction thickens, remove it and keep it aside. Drinking it in the amount of 8 gms with buttermilk is beneficial in diarrhoea.

17. Piles (hemorrhoids):

Grind bitter Indrajau with water and make pills of the size of plum.
Consume two pills with cold water at night before sleeping. This cures badi piles.

18. Aumvarakta (dysentery):

Grind 50 gms of Indrajau bark and make 10 packets of it. Consume one packet early in the morning with cow milk curd. When hungry, add it to curd and rice and have it.
This will give relief to the patient of dysentery.

19. Agnimandaya (digestive problems):

Eating 2-2 grams of Indrajau powder ends stomachache and poor digestion.

20. Bile fever:

Make a decoction of Indrajau, Pittapapda, coriander, Patolpatra and Neem bark in equal parts and drink it.
This removes bile-phlegm. Mixing sugar candy and honey in the decoction and consuming it cures bile fever.

21. Ascites:

Grind 4 grams of Indrajau, 4 grams of Borax, 4 grams of Asafoetida, 4 grams of Shankh Bhasma and 6 grams of Choti Peepal in cow's urine and drink it, all types of stomach diseases including ascites are cured.

22. Intestinal worms:

Grind and filter Indrajau and drink 1-1 gram in the morning and evening, the worms of the stomach die and come out with the stool.
