Introduction

Jowar is a grain. Soft cobs of jowar are also eaten after roasting. Jowar is very nutritious and tasty. There are two types of jowar. White and red. There are other types of jowar called chupdi jowar, gundgi jowar and kamalparu.
Gundli jowar contains nutrients. Kamalparu grains have some redness. The amount of nutrients and fat in jowar is equal to that of millet. Jowar is wind producing because it is cold and rough.

Properties

It stops stool. It increases appetite.
It is semen enhancing, constipation stimulant, bile cough killer.

Harmful effects

Jowar causes flatulence. Weak and vata natured people should not consume jowar.

Treatment for various diseases

1. Burning:

By mixing jowar flour in water and applying it on the body, burning sensation of the body is cured.


2. Thirst:

Eat jowar roti soaked in buttermilk every day. This reduces excessive thirst.

3. Piles (hemorrhoids):

Eating jowar roti dries up warts and gives relief from piles.

4. Menstrual disorders:

Burn jowar corn and filter it. This ash should be given in the amount of 3 grams with water in the morning on an empty stomach about a week before the onset of menstruation.
When menstruation starts, its consumption should be stopped. This eliminates all menstrual disorders.

5. Excessive thirst:

Eating jowar roti soaked in buttermilk reduces thirst. Do not give jowar roti to weak patients and those suffering from vata and pitta.

6. Swelling and burning sensation inside the stomach:


Mix jowar flour in water and boil it till it becomes thick and keep it before sleeping at night.
Mix white cumin seeds in it and drink it with buttermilk, it reduces burning sensation in the stomach. Eating roasted jowar with batashas reduces burning sensation in the stomach.

7. Burning sensation in the body:

Mix jowar flour in water and apply it on the body. It removes burning sensation in the body.
