Complete health without a doctor – a dream or reality? Today, about 80% of the people in India are sick, but there are not enough doctors to treat all these diseases. According to Ashtanga Hridayam, written by Maharshi Bagbhatta 3000 years ago, a sick person can be his own best doctor. Rajiv Dixit made the following formulas based on the principles of staying healthy through daily diet and behavior to remain free from diseases.

Brush your teeth before sleeping at night. After waking up in the morning, drink lukewarm water without gargling, while sitting, sip by sip. Start with one or two glasses, as much as you can comfortably drink, and gradually increase it to one and a quarter liters (1-1/4 Ltr).


Bhojanaante Vishambari i.e. drinking water at the end of the meal is like drinking poison. Therefore, do not drink water half an hour before and one and a half hours after eating. Drink water after one and a half hours.
As an alternative to water, you can drink fresh juice of seasonal fruits (not the canned one) after breakfast, buttermilk after lunch and if you are not a heart patient, you can also drink curd lassi. Hot milk after dinner. It is important that the order of these things is not reversed.

Whenever you drink water, drink it while sitting and drink it in sips.

Never drink water from the refrigerator. In summer, you can drink water from an earthen pot.


Breakfast should be eaten within two to three hours of sunrise. You should check the sunrise time in your city and then decide the time of eating. Eat breakfast to your heart's content. Eat your favorite food to your heart's content in the morning.


Eat lunch one-third less than the breakfast, for example, if you eat three rotis in the morning, eat two in the afternoon. Immediately after having lunch, lie down on your left side. You can also sleep if you want, but for a minimum of 20 minutes and a maximum of 40 minutes.
Not more than 40 minutes.

On the contrary, do not sleep immediately after dinner. After dinner, walk at least 500 steps. If possible, have dinner before sunset.

Do not use refrigerator, microwave oven, pressure cooker and aluminium utensils for cooking.


Do not use refined oil in food. Use pure oil of the oilseeds grown in the area where you live, for example, if mustard is grown in abundance in your area, then use mustard oil, if peanuts are grown, then use peanut oil, if coconuts are grown, then use coconut oil.
The oil should be straight from the oil press.

Rock salt should always be used in food, not iodised salt. Instead of sugar, you can use jaggery, sugar, desi sugar candy or sugar candy.

Do not consume any intoxicating substance, do not consume tea, coffee, non-vegetarian food, refined flour, bakery products.

Drink turmeric milk after brushing your teeth before going to bed at night.

While sleeping, the head should be towards the east and while having sex, the head should be towards the south.
