Neem is considered a miraculous tree. Neem is the most easily available tree.

• Neem trees are spread all over South Asia and are associated with our lives. Neem is a very good plant which is suitable for the Indian environment and is found in abundance in India.
Its medicinal properties have been known in India for thousands of years.

• There is a saying in India that how can death and disease occur on the land where there are neem trees. But, now other countries are also becoming aware of its properties.
Neem is a very special and revered tree for us. Neem is called NIMB in Sanskrit, 'Azadirachta-indica' or Melia Azadirachta in botany.

Properties

This tree is proving to be very useful in traditional treatment due to its medicinal properties. Neem is definitely bitter in nature, but its medicinal properties are very sweet. This is why it is said about neem that one neem is equal to a hundred hakims. It contains a variety of bitter but healthy substances, of which Margosin, Nimbidine, Nimbestrol are prominent. Neem is full of all-cure properties. This herbal organic pesticide is used in the form of soap, antiseptic cream, tooth brush, anti-diabetic powder, cosmetic, etc. Neem bark has such properties that it does not allow various types of bacteria to grow in teeth and gums, due to which teeth remain healthy and strong.

It is mentioned in ancient medical texts such as Charak Samhita and Sushruta Samhita.
It is also given the name of rural dispensary. This tree is free from diseases etc. and no insect or spider attacks, so neem is called a free tree. [1] In India, the neem tree has been an integral part of rural life. People not only enjoy sitting in its shade but also use its leaves, pods, sticks and bark to cure various diseases. The book discusses the properties of neem:-

Nimba sheton lagagugrahi katur kogni vatnat.

Adhyaha shramatutkas javararuchikreemi pranu.

That is, neem is cool, mild, pungent in taste, dear to the heart, destroys fire, wind, exertion, thirst, lack of appetite, creamy, wounds, phlegm, vomiting, leprosy and various types of diabetes.


Household Uses

The cool shade of the neem tree provides relief from heat, while its leaves, fruit, flowers and bark are used to treat household ailments. By using the medicinal properties of neem in household remedies, one can be healthy and disease free. Although it tastes bitter, its benefits are many and very effective and some of them are as follows:-

• Various types of skin diseases are cured by massaging with neem oil.

• Lighting a lamp of neem oil drives away mosquitoes and protects against diseases like dengue and malaria.


• Brushing teeth with neem strengthens teeth and gums and prevents dental cavities and prevents bad breath.

• Mixing double the amount of powdered rock salt in it and brushing teeth cures pyorrhoea, toothache, molar pain etc.

• Boiling neem shoots in water and gargling with it cures toothache.


• Chewing neem leaves purifies the blood and makes the skin supple and glowing.

• Boiling neem leaves in water and taking bath with that water cures skin disorders, and it is especially helpful in treating smallpox and helps prevent the spread of its virus.


• In case of smallpox, make the patient lie on neem leaves.

• Decoction of neem bark mixed with coriander and dried ginger powder gives quick relief in malaria.

• Neem is very helpful in keeping away malaria causing mosquitoes.
Malaria does not spread in the environment where neem trees are present. Burning neem and producing smoke at night destroys mosquitoes and prevents malaria.

• If massage is done with oil extracted from neem fruit (small) and its leaves, it is good for the body.


• Applying paste made of neem on hair makes hair healthy and reduces hairfall. • Boil neem and plum in water, when it cools down, wash hair with it and take bath with it, after using it for few days hair fall will stop and hair will remain black and strong.


• Applying neem leaf juice to the eyes cures conjunctivitis.

• Neem juice and honey in the ratio of 2:1 is beneficial in jaundice, and pouring it in the ear is also beneficial in ear disorders.

• Adding 5-10 drops of neem oil to milk and drinking it before going to bed is very beneficial in disorders related to excessive sweating and irritation.


• Taking neem seed powder with lukewarm water on an empty stomach is very beneficial in piles.

• Make a powder of neem leaves and take one-two grams with lukewarm water at night. Regular use for a few days prevents constipation and strengthens the intestines.


• If you get sunstroke in summer, drinking fine powder of neem panchanga (flowers, fruits, leaves, bark and roots) mixed in water soothes the effects of sunstroke. • In case of being bitten by a scorpion, crush neem leaves and apply them on the bitten area to reduce and minimize the effect of the poison.


• Mix a little camphor in 25 grams of neem oil and keep it. This oil is useful for boils, wounds, etc.

• Massage neem oil on swelling caused due to arthritis.

• Neem leaves kill insects, so the leaves are kept in food grains and clothes.


• Cholera is cured by grinding 20 neem leaves and mixing them in a cup of water and drinking it.

• Nibori is the fruit of neem, oil is extracted from it. Applying its oil on a wound burnt by fire cures the wound very quickly.


• Eating neem flowers and nibori does not cause stomach diseases.

• Boiling neem root in water and drinking it cures fever. • Burning the bark and mixing its ash with the juice of basil leaves cures scars and other skin diseases.


• Abroad, Neem is being presented as a tree that can cure diseases ranging from diabetes to AIDS, cancer and many more.
