Introduction There are two species of Reetha. First is Sapindus mucrosi and second is Sapindus trifoliates. Wild trees of Sapindus mucrosi are found mostly in the Himalayan region. Apart from this, trees planted in North India and Assam etc. are found in gardens or around villages. Trees of Sapindus trifoliates are found in South India, in which 3-3 fruits are attached together. The shape of its fruits is kidney-shaped and on separation, a heart-shaped mark is found at the joined place. When ripe, they are reddish brown in color. Properties By grinding the peels of Reetha in water and applying it on the face, spots and blemishes are removed. The face gets brightened. Burn the seeds of Reetha and make them ash. After this, by mixing roasted alum in it and brushing teeth in the morning and evening, teeth remain strong, clean and healthy. Grind the peel of soapnut in water and drop 2 drops in the nostril of the other side of the patient suffering from half head pain. It is quite strong, bear it. After migraine is cured by this, it does not occur again. Grind 20 grams of soapnut peel and 10 grams of Harakasis and make pills equal to gram and dry them in the shade.
By consuming 1 pill with water on an empty stomach, piles dry up in 10-12 days and piles are cured. Grind 75 grams of soapnut kernel and filter it and add 75 grams of sugar candy to it. By consuming 5-5 grams of this powder with milk in the morning and evening, strength increases. By wrapping about one-fourth of 1 gram of ground soapnut kernel in cream and swallowing it with hot water, mucus loosens and comes out and asthma patient gets relief by consuming it for a week. By grinding the peel of soapnut and giving half gram of water in the morning, epilepsy is cured. Harmful effects An expectorant substance called saponin, sugar and pectin is found in its fruit. Its seeds contain 30 percent fat. Which is used in making soap. Treatment for various diseases 1. Half head ache: By rubbing the fruit of soapnut with 1-2 black peppers and dropping 4-5 drops in the nose, the half head ache ends soon. Put the bark of soapnut in water at night and in the morning, mash it and filter it with a cloth and drop 1-1 drop of its water in the nose, the half head ache goes away. By smelling the powder of soapnut through the nose, the pain of migraine (half head ache) ends.
2. Eye diseases: In eye diseases, boiling soapnut fruit in water and keeping this water under the eyelids is beneficial. 3. Dental diseases: By roasting and grinding soapnut seeds on a pan and mixing equal amount of powdered alum in it and massaging the teeth, all kinds of dental diseases are cured. 4. Anant Vayu: Due to the outbreak of Vayu after menstruation, the brain of women becomes empty (numb). Darkness prevails before the eyes. Teeth get stuck together. At this time, by rubbing soapnut in water and making foam and applying it in the eyes (like kajal), the effect of Vayu (gas) is removed immediately and the woman becomes healthy.
5. Dandruff:
Washing hair with reetha makes hair shiny, black, thick and soft and dandruff is removed from the hair.
Washing head with reetha water removes dandruff.
6. Epilepsy:
Epilepsy is cured by making the patient smell reetha powder.
Epilepsy is cured by grinding reetha along with its seeds, kernels and peel and making the epilepsy patients smell it daily.
7. Headache:
Put 1 gram reetha powder and 2-3 grams trikuta powder in 50 ml water. Filter the water in the morning and fill it in a separate bottle. Putting 4-5 drops of this water in the nose daily in the morning on an empty stomach brings out the phlegm (phlegm) accumulated inside. The nasal pores swell and one gets immediate relief from headache.
8. Bloody piles:
Remove the seeds from the soapnut fruit and roast the remaining part on a pan to make coal, then mix the same amount of papadiya catechu in it, grind it well and filter it through a cloth. Take 125 mg of this medicine with butter or cream in the morning and evening for 7 days. Salt and sour things should not be consumed during the diet.
9. Diarrhoea:
Mash 4.5 grams kernel of soapnut in water, when it forms foam, then giving this water to the patient of cholera and dysentery is beneficial.
10. Burning and pain in urination:
Soak 25 grams soapnut in 1 liter of water overnight and giving its filtered water in small quantities to the patient is beneficial in dysentery (difficulty in urination).
11. Nishtartava (cessation of menstruation, amenorrhea):
In amenorrhea, grind its fruit bark or kernel finely, mix it with honey and make a wick and put it in the vagina, this will restart the stopped menstruation.
12. Pain:
Taking 1/4th gram powder of reetha kernel with sherbet or water ends colic (pain).
13. Increase in semen:
Grind reetha kernel and mix equal amount of jaggery in it and take 1 teaspoon of it with 1 cup of milk in the morning and evening, this will increase semen.
14. Throat diseases:
Grind 10 grams peel of reetha and take 1/4th gram in the morning and 1/4th gram in the evening with betel leaf or honey, this will give relief in throat diseases.
15. Poison:
By boiling soapnut fruit in water and consuming it in small quantity, the poison comes out through vomiting.
16. Opium poison:
Boil soapnut in water till steam starts coming out, then by giving this water in the quantity of half cup to the patient, the poison of opium is removed.
17. Scorpion poison:
By keeping the pulp of soapnut fruit (middle part of the fruit) in hookah like tobacco and drinking it, the poison of scorpion is removed.
Grind the kernel of soapnut fruit and mix equal quantity of jaggery in it and make 1-2 gram tablets. By taking 3 tablets of these tablets with water after 5-5 minutes, the poison of scorpion is removed.
Grind the fruit of soapnut and applying it in the eyes like anjan (kajal) and on the bitten area also gives relief in scorpion poison.
18. Poisonous insects:
Grind the kernel of soapnut in vinegar and apply it on the bite of poisonous insects to get relief.
19. Softening of hair:
100 grams of Kapoor Kachri, 100 grams of Nagarmotha and 40-40 grams of camphor and kernel of soapnut fruit, 250 grams of Shikakai, 200 grams of Amla. Make powder by mixing all of them together, then make a paste by mixing this powder with about 50 ml of water. Apply this paste on the hair. After this, clean the hair thoroughly with hot water. This kills the lice inside the head and the hair becomes soft. Washing hair after mixing soapnut, Amla, Shikakai makes the hair silky, shiny, dandruff-free and thick.
20. Asthma:
For removing phlegm in asthma, give 1/4th to 1.20 gram powder of soapnut. This makes the phlegm come out by vomiting.
Giving fine powder of soapnut in the nose also gives relief in asthma.
21. Blackening of hair:
Mix 250-250 grams of soapnut and ground dry Indian gooseberry and 25-25 grams of shikakai pods, dried leaves of henna and nagarmotha and grind them together. Shampoo is ready. Boil one big spoon of it in water and wash the head with it. This will make the white hair black.
