Yoga For Diabetes

Introduction- There are many symptoms of diabetes. In this disease, the amount of sugar (sweetness) increases in the blood of the patient. Due to increased sweetness in the blood, this disease is also called hyper sugar blood (sweetness in the blood). In this disease, the amount of sugar also increases in the urine, due to which a honey-like substance keeps coming out with urine from the urinary tract. Diabetes is a disease which the patient comes to know about after a long time. Today people know it by the name of 'diabetes'. This disease occurs gradually. Due to its effect, the strength of the body decreases. This disease is more found in obese people. Earlier this disease used to occur in the age of 40-50 years, but nowadays even small children get it. In this disease, the pancreas gland, which converts the sugar present in the blood into energy, is not able to do its work properly due to some reason, due to which diabetes (mahabheha) disease occurs. There are 3 main symptoms of this disease-

  • Frequent urination (polyuria).
  • Desire to eat more.
  • Feeling more thirsty.

The main reason for the occurrence of diabetes is the production of less amount of insulin by the beta cells of the islets of Langerhans. This disease is divided into 2 categories- The first category of diabetes is juvenile diabetes. The second category of diabetes is mature diabetes. First category of diabetes- In this diabetes, insulin is completely absent from the islets of Langerhans. It is necessary to treat insulin for its presence. In this way, due to the lack of insulin, it is also called insulin dependent diabetes. To reduce the sugar (sweetness) present in the blood, it is necessary to give insulin to the patient from time to time to control it. Although it can occur at any stage. But still it occurs mostly in youth. Second type of diabetes- This type of diabetes is more common than the first type and more than 30 percent of the cases have been seen as this type of diabetes. This type of diabetes is more common in obese men and women above the age of 40. This disease is mostly found in people above 40 years of age, so it is called adult diabetes. In this type of diabetes, insulin is mostly present in the plasma. Therefore, there is no need to give extra insulin to maintain the amount of sugar in the blood. In this disease, the pancreas of the patients produces some amount or sometimes excessive amount of insulin, but this amount of insulin is not sufficient for the correct functioning and the process of its production is also not so fast that it can reduce the amount of sugar formed in the blood. This is probably due to a defect in the micro system that mediates the action of insulin on its target cells. This is the reason why this type of diabetes is called insulin-dependent diabetes. Reasons- Actually, the cause of diabetes is not known till now. However, medical science believes that this disease is caused due to certain specific reasons. One of these reasons is congenital diabetes, i.e. diabetes that is present since birth. Diabetes that develops in parents can also be passed on to their children. This disease is inherited by a person, i.e. it is passed on from generation to generation. It forms the foundation of this disease that affects the body cells of individuals. One such reason is the increase in body weight. Obesity, which affects the use of insulin, helps in this disease. According to researchers, 80 percent of the patients who were cured of diabetes, both men and women, were overweight. Diabetes can be of both physical and mental types, such as surgery or serious infection, an accident or emotional shock. The body also becomes stressed due to the use of many types of medicines. Pregnancy also puts additional pressure on the body. This is the reason why diabetes is often found in pregnant women or women who have repeated miscarriages. People who have diabetes are mostly victims of high blood pressure. This diabetes is more common in old and middle-aged people than in young people and this diabetes is more common in women than in men. First degree diabetes is caused by the destruction of beta cells in the pancreas. The destruction of these cells of the body occurs for the protection of the body itself. The events that trigger such an autoimmune reaction are unknown, although in some cases viral infection is considered to be a powerful cause. Symptoms of diabetes of both categories- First degree- A person who has first degree diabetes has symptoms like frequent urination, excessive thirst, less hunger, loss of body weight, irritability in nature, etc. Apart from this, symptoms like physical weakness and fatigue, nausea and vomiting also start occurring. Second grade - In this type of diabetes, the patient experiences symptoms like weight gain, poor eyesight, numbness and tingling in hands and feet. Wounds taking longer to heal, itching and skin diseases are the symptoms of second grade diabetes. Blood sugar level in diabetes- In normal condition- 1. Sugar level on empty stomach 65-100 mg/100 ml blood 2. Sugar level after meal (after 2 hours) 100-120 mg/100 ml blood Impure sugar tolerance- 1. Impure sugar level on empty stomach 105-120 mg/100 ml blood 2. Sugar level after meal 120-150 mg/100 ml blood Diabetes- 1. Sugar level on empty stomach 120 mg/100 ml blood 2. Sugar level after 2 hours of taking glucose 180 mg/100 ml blood Treatment of diabetes through yoga- To reduce the disease of diabetes i.e. to reduce the amount of sugar in the blood, one should practice yoga. This disease can be cured through yoga. All the patients of diabetes should practice various yogas daily. Shatkriya (Hatha Yoga) Practice Neti and Kunjal Kriya.
