Introduction: If the menstrual discharge is painful, it is called dysmenorrhoea (painful menstruation). It is natural for young women to have mild pain during menstruation. But if the pain increases during menstruation, it can be the cause of some disease. The pain of menstruation disturbs girls more.
Menstruation is the natural process of women's body. Some people have pain during menstruation. This is called dysmenorrhoea. This usually occurs in young women living a luxurious life at the age of 18-25 years. It is of two types. First - dysmenorrhoea with excessive bleeding and second - dysmenorrhoea with cramps. Excessive dysmenorrhoea: This pain occurs in the organs around the uterus in married women. This pain starts 3-4 days before menstruation and gets cured automatically after menstruation starts. Women who do less physical work suffer from this more. Eating more sugar and exercising provides relief in this. Spastic dysmenorrhea: Most of the women suffering from this come to hospitals. This usually happens to unmarried girls. This happens from the beginning of menstruation till the first delivery. This pain occurs in the uterus. The severe pain lasts for half an hour. It also causes shivering, nausea and vomiting. The reasons that are known are small uterus, lack of blood in the uterus and improper functioning of all parts of the genitals. Imbalance in hormones is the main cause of menstrual pain. There is an imbalance of sodium and potassium elements in food which keep the nerves and brain impulses balanced, due to which mental stress remains in women. This disease gets cured automatically after marriage and having a child. Symptoms: 2-3 days before menstruation, there is headache, burning sensation in the body, pain in the stomach and waist. Sometimes this pain makes one very restless.
Treatment with various medicines- 1. Nigella: Consuming half to one gram of Nigella (Mangarela) eliminates the pain of menstruation and starts again. Licking 3 grams of Nigella powder mixed in honey eliminates the pain of menstruation. 2. Bamboo: Drinking decoction of bamboo leaves and soft bamboo knot causes contraction of uterus and purification of menstruation. Give it in the amount of 40 ml every 6 hours with old jaggery dissolved in water. It should be given five days before menstruation.
3. Safflower: Taking 4 grams powder of dried flowers of safflower with water every morning and evening provides relief in dysmenorrhoea (pain during menstruation) and stops the pain. This helps in regular menstruation. 4. Dry ginger: Boil 10 grams dry ginger in 300 ml water and make a decoction. Mixing old jaggery in this decoction and drinking it eliminates the pain of menstruation. Note: Cold water and sour things should not be consumed while consuming it. 5. Cumin: Take 6 grams black cumin, 6 grams cinnamon, dry ginger, chitrak/cheeta, fennel in the amount of 6-6 grams and boil in 100 ml water till it remains in the amount of 25 ml. Consuming it in the amount of 30 to 50 ml 2-3 times a day prevents pain during menstruation. 6. Neem: By heating neem leaves in steam and keeping them in vagina, menstrual pain is cured. If there is pain in thighs during menstruation, then by mixing 6 ml of neem leaves juice, about 12 ml of ginger juice, and equal amount of water and drinking it daily, thigh pain is cured immediately. 7. Radish: Grind 5 grams of radish seeds and consume it with warm water in the morning, afternoon and evening (3 times), the problem of pain during menstruation is cured. 8. Gokhru: Take 15 grams of Gokhru, boil it in 250 ml water and make a decoction. Mix 1 gram of Khorasani parsley powder and 0.6 grams of baking soda in this decoction and consume it, menstrual pain is cured. 9. Ajwain: Make halwa by mixing 10 grams of ajwain with 100 grams of jaggery in a iron pan with ghee. Consuming this halwa 2-3 times eliminates the pain of menstruation. 10. Bathua: Boil 5 grams of bathua seeds in 200 ml of water for a long time. When 100 ml remains, filter it and drink it to eliminate the pain during menstruation. 11. Carrot: Boil 5 grams of carrot seeds in 100 ml water and mix 25 ml jaggery in it and consume it. Menstruation comes on time and pain of menstruation ends. In all uterine disorders, consuming 1 to 3 grams powder of carrot seeds in the morning and evening ends the pain of menstruation. 12. Apamarg: Boil 10 grams of Apamarg root, 10 grams of cotton flowers, 10 grams of carrot seeds in 250 ml water. When about 20 ml of water is left, filter it and drink it at night. Menstruation happens in the morning without pain. 13. Saffron: Boil one gram of saffron in 300 ml milk and drink it. Pain of menstruation ends. 14. Asafoetida: Taking about half gram of roasted asafoetida with water and giving it regularly in the morning from the day of menstruation starts eliminates the pain of menstruation. 15. Vayvidang: Mixing Vayvidang, dry ginger and jaggery with water and giving it regularly in the morning from the day menstruation starts eliminates the pain of menstruation. Grind Vayvidang, Hauber, Kalmishora and Jaukhar in the amount of 6-6 grams and give 1-1 gram in the morning and evening after meals from 3 days before menstruation starts till it ends. 16. Revandchini: Mix 12 grams of sugar in 12 grams of ground Revandchini and keep it. Take 2 grams of this with water in the morning and evening from 3 days before menstruation starts till it ends. 17. Khurasani Kutki: Taking half to one gram of Khurasani Kutki and consuming it with honey relieves the pain of menstruation and the menstrual flow becomes smooth. 18. Ishwarmul (Rudrajata): Taking about one-fourth gram to one gram of Ishwarmul (Rudrajata) powder along with the powder of peepal root and asafoetida every morning and evening provides relief in dysmenorrhoea (pain in menstruation). 19. Garlic: In case of pain during menstruation, grind garlic, fry it in ghee and consume it with honey. 20. Spikenard: In case of painful menstruation, consuming half gram to 1 gram of spikenard powder 2-3 times a day helps in smooth menstruation without any pain. 21. Dantrisa: Making a decoction of Dantrisa with cloves or cinnamon and consuming it in dysmenorrhoea (menstruation) provides relief. It is a good uterine astringent. 22. Farhad: Taking 10 ml juice of Farhad leaves morning and evening cures the problem of dysmenorrhoea (painful menstruation). 23. Cotton: In case of dysmenorrhoea (menstruation) or anorexia (less menstruation) caused by the effect of cold, consuming decoction of cotton bark daily in the morning and evening eliminates menstrual pain and menstruation becomes regular. If menstruation stops, the time of menstruation passes and menstruation does not occur, then grind about 40 grams of cotton root and boil it in about one liter of water. When it remains in one-fourth quantity, cool it and give it to drink. By using this both in the morning and evening, menstrual pain goes away and menstruation becomes regular. 24. Newari (Basanti): In case of pain during menstruation and other menstrual related disorders, consuming decoction of Newari leaves in the quantity of about 40 ml in the morning and evening is beneficial. 25. Mogra: Taking 3 ml decoction of the root of Mogra (Motiy Bel) in the morning and evening provides relief in dysmenorrhoea (painful menstruation), amenorrhea (stopped menstruation) and irregular menstruation etc. 26. Ashoka: Taking 10 to 20 grams of the powder of the bark of Ashoka daily in Ksheerpak method (by heating it in milk) cures dysmenorrhoea (painful menstruation), menorrhagia and leucorrhoea etc. It creates stimulation in the uterus and ovaries and makes them fully capable. 27. Chicory: Taking 20 to 40 grams decoction of the root of Chicory Gromy 2-3 times a day cures all types of menstrual disorders such as irregular menstruation and less or more menstruation etc. 28. Babuna: In menstrual disorders, Babuna flowers extract or solution of about 40 to 80 ml should be consumed morning and evening. Babuna flowers should be consumed in the quantity of 3 to 4 grams. Vomiting can also start due to its excessive use. 29. Hathajori: In all menstrual disorders, Hathajori's Panchang (root, stem, leaf, fruit and flower) extract or solution of 40 to 80 ml is beneficial. 30. Harmal: Consuming 2 to 4 grams of Harmal seeds powder morning and evening leads to painless menstruation. That is, it is a very beneficial medicine for both painful menstruation and irregular menstruation. 31. Mustard: Boil 4 spoons of powdered mustard in two glasses of water, filter it and soak a cloth in it and warm the stomach. This helps in regulating the menstruation and also ends the pain during menstruation. Caution:
Menstruating women should take a balanced diet. Spicy, sweet foods, polished rice and non-vegetarian food should be consumed as little as possible. Unmarried girls should drink lemon and orange juice on an empty stomach in the morning during their menstruation. These juices remove the deficiency of potassium in the body.
