Introduction:-
If epistaxis is in its normal state, it gets cured by itself, but if it happens frequently, it becomes very difficult to stop it. It is not necessary that the blood comes out from only one nostril, it comes out from pharynx or esophagus or stomach also. Blood may come out from one or both the nostrils. If the blood comes out from one nostril, it may be externally, while if the blood comes out from both the nostrils, it may be due to other disease.
Mostly, epistaxis occurs in summer and in children. Various medicines used in this disease- Ferrum-Iod 3, Millefolium 3 or Ambra Grisea 3 potency.
Causes:-
Nose bleeding occurs due to injury to the head or nose, entering anything in the nose, scratching the nose, injury to the nasal bone, excess circulation of blood in the brain, liver diseases, syphilis, working hard and coughing etc. Bleeding from piles stops and nose bleeding starts. Sometimes, it also occurs due to cold, sinusitis, boils in the nose, diphtheria, ulcers in the wall located between the two nostrils etc.
Nose bleeding can start due to infectious fevers such as flu, measles, dengue, respiratory diseases, typhoid, malaria, hypertension, cancer, arteritis or bronchitis etc.
Nose bleeding starts due to deficiency of vitamins- ‘C’, ‘B’-12, fluoric acid and vitamin ‘k’ etc.
Symptoms:-
Different symptoms like bleeding from nose, phlegm collected from nose reaching throat, stuffy nose etc. are found in the patient.
Diseases and medicines used in it:-
1. Aconite-
If blood comes out of the nose of a healthy and strong person, he should take Aconite 30. It helps in stopping bleeding from nose.
If blood comes out of the nose of a person due to rush of extra blood in the brain, use of Aconite 3x helps in curing this disease. In this condition, Belladonna 3x, Gels or Veratrum-vir 3x can be used.
2. Millefolium- This medicine is used to stop bleeding from any part of the body. In case of bleeding of nose take 3 potency of this medicine and 2 drops of its mother tincture should be dripped in the nose. In case of toothache and nose bleeding, mother tincture of Trillium should be used in addition to this medicine.
3. Pulsatilla- If the menstrual discharge of a woman has been suppressed and there is bleeding from the nose instead of menstrual discharge, then Pulsatilla 30 should be taken. It helps to cure the nose bleeding and the menstrual discharge becomes regular (normal).
4. Bryonia- It is beneficial to use this medicine in case of bleeding from the nose. If the bleeding from the nose starts instead of menstrual discharge during menstruation, mostly accompanied by headache in the morning, taking Bryonia 1x is very effective.
5. Pulsatilla, Bryonia, Sulphur or Podo- If the bleeding from the nose starts instead of menstrual discharge, while during menstruation; nose bleeding starts instead of bleeding from piles etc., using Pulsatilla or Sulphur 30 is very effective. In this condition, Bryonia 6 or Podo 6 can also be used.
6. Ammonia-Carb- If nosebleeds occur in the morning while brushing teeth or while taking food, then Ammonia-Carb 6 should be taken for its treatment.
7. China- In case of nose bleeding due to excessive physical weakness, it is very effective to use China 3 to 30.
8. Arnica:- 3 or 30 potency of this medicine is used in case of nose bleeding which starts due to injury. This medicine is also used to cure wounds caused by burns or scratches. If blood comes out due to injury to the head or nose, then Arnica 3x should be used. It is very effective.
9. Secale- In case of black coloured blood coming out of the nose, it is advisable to use Secale 30.
10. Lachesis or Arsenic- If blood comes out of the nose due to wounds in the nose after dissection, then Lachesis 6 or 30 or Arsenic 3 or 30 should be taken for its treatment.
11. China or Carbo-Veg- If blood comes out of the nose all the time, then China 6 or Carbo-Veg 30 should be taken.
12. Hamamelis- If the blood does not clot after coming out, then taking Hamamelis 6 is very useful. In case of nose bleeding, a few drops of its mother tincture should be dripped into the nose. It helps to stop bleeding.
If the blood always comes out in the form of clots, then the patient should take Hamamelis 1x and 2-3 drops of this medicine should be dripped into the nose.
13. Arum-Triphyllum- If the nose feels dry itching inside it due to which the child goes to scratch all the time which causes bleeding, then using Arum-Triphyllum 3 or 30 is very effective.
14. Merc-Sol- If thread-like blood comes out of the nose and is hanging, then Merc-Sol 30 should be taken. If nose bleeding starts in children of 15-16 years, then this medicine should be given. If the blood is shiny, red in colour or comes in the form of flow etc., then first of all, give Belladonna or Hamamelis to the patient. If both these medicines fail, then give Merc-Sol 30 to the patient. It helps in stopping bleeding.
15. Phosphorus- If there is extra bleeding due to little injury on the body or in case of bleeding from other organs etc. (occult), using this medicine is very effective. For this purpose, 30 potency of this medicine should be used.
16. Ambrosia:- In case of bleeding of nose, mother tincture of Ambrosia should be taken. In case of bleeding of nose and throbbing pain in head, it is very effective to use Belladonna 3.
17. Nux-Vomica:-
In case of bleeding of nose due to constipation or due to taking excess alcohol, Nux-Vomica 1x or 6 should be used.
If the disease has been cured by the use of above medicines and some of its symptoms remain, then use Ferrum-Picricum 2x or 3x. It cures the disease completely.
Other treatment of this disease with the use of different medicines:-
In this disease, wash the nose and mouth with lukewarm water after adding salt in it. The dirt thickening in the nose will come out.
In normal condition of epistaxis, dripping 1-2 drops of mother tincture of Hamamelis helps to cure this disease.
Sometimes, washing the nose with lukewarm water is also beneficial.
If there is bleeding from the nose, place both hands on top of the head. This helps to stop bleeding from the nose.
By inhaling and exhaling through the nose with the mouth closed, it also stops bleeding.
Ice cold water should be poured on the root of the nose and neck.
In case of bleeding from the nose in motion, pouring cold water or icy water on the spine helps to stop bleeding. If this does not have any effect and the condition of the patient worsens, the nose should be immediately closed with a piece of very soft cloth.
Pure mustard oil should be dripped into the nose of the patient, bathing with cold water should be done and nutritious, light and easily digestible food should be taken.
Precautionary:-
The patient should not take stimulants, alcohol and smoking etc. Too much physical or mental work should also not be done.
