Introduction:-
When an abscess appears on the membrane inside the nose due to any reason and does not get treated easily and pus starts forming with foul smell, this condition is called Pinus. This disease also affects the bones of the nose, as a result of which its cartilage and bones start disintegrating. Due to concentrated pus coming out in the nose thick crust is formed inside the nose which creates obstruction in the breathing tube and he feels difficulty in breathing.
Causes:-
This disease occurs due to use of excess mercury, summer sores appearing, chronic cold, injury in the nostril by a piece of stone (pebble). Mostly, it is hereditary or due to bacteria of T.B. or abscess etc.
Symptoms:-
Lesions appear in the mucus membrane of the nose, foul smell comes from the nose due to decomposition of the lesions, mixing of mucus with blood, pus, nasal membrane thinning and thickening inside the nose etc. are the symptoms of this disease. Due to this disease, the smelling ability of the patient is reduced.
Medicines which are used to cure the disease:-
1. Lyticum (Syphilinum):- If nasal abscesses have appeared due to syphilis, then Lyticum 200 should be used for the treatment of such a patient.
2. Cadmium Sulphur- If a person has a boil in his nose and there are various types of other symptoms such as decomposition of nasal bones and cartilage, abscesses appear inside the nose, stuffy nose and nosebleeds appear, then using the powder of Cadmium Sulphur 3x or 3 to 30 is very effective.
3. Kali-Bichrome:-
If yellow or green coloured concentrated and thready secretions are secreted from the nose; it seems as if mucus is falling down from the nose into the throat; the patient has to expectorate in his throat to remove the phlegm that has been removed; the phlegm becomes thick in the posterior part of the throat etc., Kali-Bichrome 3x or 30 should be taken.
In the initial stage of cold and catarrh, extra watery secretion from the nose; the upper part of the nose becomes red with pain; the sense of smell of the patient is affected with pressure of the middle part of the nose after the extra secretion; foul-smelling or bloody pus comes out of the nose, the smell of flesh wash emanates from the secretions etc. Thus, for the treatment of such a patient taking Kali-Bichrome 3 should be taken.
4. Arum-Met:-
In case of pinus of syphilis or T.B. patient, taking Arum-Met 30 is very effective for its treatment.
If the nose has become red after swelling with pain in it; feels hotness inside the nose with mild pain; yellow or pale yellow smelly discharge is secreted from the nose; sometimes dry mucus mixed with liquid pus is coming out.
5. Psorinum- If the patient suffering from psoriasis is also complaining of skin disease, he should use Psorinum 200 for its treatment.
6. Tuberculinum- In case boils appear in the membrane inside the nose, it is beneficial to use Tuberculinum 200.
7. Arsenic- For curing chronic sores of the nose, taking Arsenic 200 is very effective. In case of pinus, if watery pus is secreting which produces symptoms of burning sensation and much sneezing and hoarseness etc., use Arsenic 3 to 30.
8. Nitric Acid- If syphilis has been treated with medicines containing mercury and it causes pinus, then taking Nitric Acid 6 is very effective.
9. Teucrium- If symptoms like- chronic inflammation of nose, large scabs from nose and decreased ability of smelling etc., is found in a person, then taking Teucrium 1 or 6 is beneficial. This medicine is also very effective in case of abscesses appearing in the nose.
10. Merc-Bin- iod sanguinaria- In case of sores inside the nose, if dry mucus comes out of it, then the patient should take Merc-Bin-Iod or Sanguinaria or Sticta.
11. Syphilinum or Iod- If foul and putrid discharge comes out from the nose due to sores or abscesses, then Syphilinum 200 or Iod 3 should be used.
12. Zincum or Sialca:-
If the patient sneezes continuously, Zincum or Sialca 3 or 30 should be taken.
Apart from the above medicines, other medicines can be given to the patient to get benefit soon- Calcarea-Carb 3 or 30, HAMA 6, Psorinum 30, Alumina 6, Pulsatilla 6, Sanguinaria 1x to 6 and Arum-Met 3x to 30 etc.
Sanitary:-
The patient suffering from this disease should keep his nose clean all the time so that it does not get blocked.
The nose and mouth should be washed with lukewarm water after adding a little salt in it.
The patient should take light easily digestible things.
