Astringents-
To constrict the blood vessels and prevent further release of histamine, astringents like calamine lotion and/or witch hazel work well. You can opt for Pepto-Bismol or milk of magnesia which are alkaline in nature and can be used instead of calamine lotion.
Baking Soda-
Take two teaspoons of baking soda in a bowl and add enough water to it. Mix it to make a paste. Apply this paste on the hives affected area to get relief from itching and prevent irritation.
Vinegar-
Take one teaspoon of apple cider vinegar and mix it with an equal amount of lukewarm water. Apply this mixture on the skin affected area with the tip of a quill, it will take care of the itching sensation.
Brown sugar and ginger-
Take 1/4 cup of brown sugar, a teaspoon of ginger and 3/4 cup of vinegar. Mix them all together and boil the mixture for a few minutes. Add a little warm water to this boiled mixture and dab it on the hives several times a day.
Fish oil-
Take 1000 mg fish oil capsules three times a day. These capsules are a source of fatty acids that have anti-inflammatory properties. Cold-water fish like bluefish, salmon and albacore tuna are good food sources.
Stress relief-
Sometimes stress can be the reason for skin hives, so one should practice yoga, meditation and relaxation exercises.
