Basil Leaves-

Basil leaves are rich in antioxidants and essential oils that produce eugenol, methyl eugenol and caryophyllene.
Collectively, these compounds help the pancreatic beta cells (cells that store and secrete insulin) to function properly and make them insulin sensitive.

Advice: Taking two to three basil leaves or one tablespoon of basil juice on an empty stomach reduces blood sugar levels.


Flax seeds-

Flax seeds are rich in fiber, which helps in proper absorption of fat and sugar. Flax seeds reduce post meal sugar levels of a diabetic patient by about 28 percent.

Advice: Take flax seed powder with warm water every morning on an empty stomach.


Cinnamon-

Also known as dalchini, this substance increases insulin sensitivity and reduces blood glucose levels. Consuming half a teaspoon of cinnamon daily increases insulin sensitivity and controls weight, thereby reducing the risk of heart disease.

Tip: Include 1 gram of cinnamon in your daily diet for a month to keep blood sugar levels low.


Green Tea-

Like other tea leaves, green tea is unfermented and has a high polyphenol content. Polyphenols are strong antioxidants and hypoglycemic compounds. They regulate blood sugar secretion and help the body use insulin properly.

Tip: Soak a green tea bag in hot water for 2-3 minutes.
Remove the bag and drink a cup of this tea in the morning or before meals.

Drumstick-

(Amaltas) Leaves Also known as Moringa (Mung bean) leaves are known to boost energy. In case of diabetes, Moringa leaves increase satiety and slow down the breakdown of food (digestion) and reduce blood sugar levels.


Tip: Take a few drumstick leaves. Wash them and extract their juice. Take a quarter cup of the juice and drink it every morning on an empty stomach to keep blood sugar levels under control.

Neem-

Found in abundance in India, Neem leaves have amazing medicinal properties.
Neem increases insulin receptor sensitivity, improves blood circulation by dilating blood vessels, decreases blood glucose levels and reduces dependence on hypoglycemic drugs.

Tip: Drink the juice of tender neem leaves on an empty stomach to get excellent results.
