Introduction

Among the 6 juices of food, sweet juice has special importance. Sweet substances like jaggery, sugar, sugar etc. are made from sugarcane juice. India is the original birthplace of sugarcane. In our country, it is grown in large quantities in states like Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Bengal, South India etc.
In other countries of the world, sugarcane is produced in large quantities in Java, Cuba, Mauritius, West Indies, East Africa etc. Sugarcane is sown three times in a year in January-February, June-July and October-November. Sugarcane is also called reed or satha.

There are many varieties of sugarcane, which include white, black, brown etc. The juice of red sugarcane is very sweet. The sweeter the sugarcane, the more beneficial it is. Raw, half-ripe, ripe and overripe (jarth), in this way, the qualities of sugarcane vary due to the difference in variety.
The root of sugarcane has very sweet juice, the middle part has sweet juice and the top part (top) and knots have salty juice. In summer season, sugarcane juice is as beneficial as nectar.

The juice of sugarcane obtained by sucking sugarcane with teeth is useful in removing bile and blood disorders, is as energizing as sugar, causes phlegm and eliminates burning sensation.
The juice of sugarcane extracted by crushing it with machines or equipments- it is dirty due to crushing with the root, top part, organisms and knots. It becomes distorted due to being kept for a long time and also causes burning sensation. It blocks stool and is difficult to digest. The juice extracted by equipment or machines is burning (burning sensation) and causes flatulence (gas). In summer, extracting fresh sugarcane juice, adding salt and squeezing lemon in it and drinking it is very tasty and beneficial.

Properties


The stem of sugarcane plant is 180 cm to 360 cm high, round and knotty. Its leaves are 90 to 120 cm long and 6 cm to 9 cm wide.

Harmful effects

Sugarcane is sweet, cold and smooth. Hence, it is not beneficial for small children suffering from diabetes, fever, cold, poor digestion, skin diseases and worm diseases.
Apart from this, people who have permanent problems of cold, breathing and cough and those who are of Kapha nature should not consume sugarcane in large quantities.

Treatment for various diseases


1. Goiter:

Eating 2 to 4 grams of myrobalan powder and drinking sugarcane juice on top is beneficial in goiter.


2. Swarbhanga (loss of voice):

Bake sugarcane in hot ash and then suck it to get relief from the disease of Swarbhanga (loss of voice).

3. Breathing:

Consuming 3 to 6 grams of jaggery mixed with equal quantity of mustard oil is beneficial for breathing.


4. Increase in milk in breasts:

Grind 5-10 grams of sugarcane root and consume it with kanji to increase the milk of a woman.

5. Raktatisar (bloody diarrhea):


Drinking sugarcane juice and pomegranate juice in equal quantity is beneficial in raktatisar (bloody diarrhea).


6. Agnimandaya (indigestion):


Consuming a little cumin seeds mixed with jaggery is beneficial in Agnimandaya, cold and Vata diseases.

7. Asmari (stone):

After removing the ashmari (stone), make the patient sit in hot water and mix jaggery in milk and give some hot drink to increase urine.
By sucking sugarcane, the stone gets crushed and passes out. Sugarcane juice is also beneficial.

8. Kidney colic:

Grind 11 grams of jaggery and 500 mg of slaked lime together and make 2 tablets, first give one tablet with hot water.
If the kidney pain does not subside, give another pill.

9. Leucorrhoea:

Take an empty sack of jaggery which has been filled with jaggery for 2-3 years, burn it and filter its ash and keep it. By consuming 3 grams of this ash daily, leucorrhoea and menorrhagia are cured in a few days.
By drinking sugarcane juice, pittaja leucorrhoea is cured.

10. Viryavardhi (increasing the sperm):

By consuming jaggery with 2-4 grams of powder of Indian gooseberry, semen increases and diseases like fatigue, hemoptysis (bloody bile), burning sensation, pain and dysuria (difficulty or burning sensation while passing urine) etc.
are cured.

11. On centipede bite:

In case of centipede bite or sticking, burning jaggery and applying it is beneficial.

12. In various diseases:


Mixing 5 grams of jaggery with 5 grams of ginger or dry ginger or peepal or harad powder in the amount of 10 grams and consuming it with hot milk in the morning and evening cures swelling, cold, throat diseases, mouth diseases, cough, breathing, loss of appetite, sinus, chronic fever, piles, dysentery etc.
and other diseases like kaphavaat.

13. Burning:

Burning is relieved by mixing jaggery in water and filtering it 25 times in a cloth and drinking it. It is given to drink to calm the heat of fever.

14. Kantak Shool (pain due to sharp objects piercing the feet):

If thorns, stones, glass etc.
pierce the feet, then putting jaggery on fire and sticking it hot gives relief.

15. For Nalwat:


Mix jaggery in fresh cow milk till it becomes sweet and then drink it while standing. After this, do not sit for 3 hours.
You get relief immediately.

16. For mouth ulcers, eye sight and fever:

By keeping a small piece of catechu in mouth along with a piece of mishri and sucking it, you get relief from mouth ulcers etc. By rubbing mishri in water and applying it to eyes, eyes get cleaned and Drishtimaandya (disease of poor eye sight) gets cured. By drinking milk mixed with mishri and ghee, fever gets reduced.

17. Bleeding from nose:

By putting sugarcane juice in the nose, nose bleeding is beneficial.
