Properties Of Pigeon Pea And Its Ayurvedic treatment

 


Introduction

There are two types of pigeon pea, first red and second white. Vasad pigeon pea dal is very famous. Susti pigeon pea dal, Kanpuriya dal and Desi dal are also considered good.
Among all the pulses used as pulses, pigeon pea has a prominent place. It is hot and dry. Those who are harmed due to its nature should eat its pulse after tempering it in ghee, then there will be no harm of any kind. A delicious vegetable is made by boiling pigeon pea grains and tempering it in sufficient water. Vegetable is also made by taking out the grains from the green pigeon pea pods. A very tasty vegetable is made by mixing the grains of green pigeon pea pods in brinjal vegetable. By adding tamarind or mango tang and hot spices in pigeon pea dal, it becomes more tasty. By mixing sufficient amount of ghee in pigeon pea dal and eating it, it does not cause gas. Its dal is suitable for all as it destroys the three doshas (vata, kapha and pitta). The soft stems and leaves of the pigeon pea plant are specially fed to milk-giving animals. This makes them more fresh and they give more milk.

Properties

It is astringent, dry, sweet, cool, light to digest, does not stop stool, produces gas, makes the body parts beautiful and removes phlegm and blood-related disorders.
Red pigeon pea dal is light, spicy and hot. It kindles the fire (increases appetite) and removes phlegm, poison, blood disorders, itching, leprosy (white spots) and harmful insects present inside the stomach (the part where food is digested). The pigeon pea dal is digestive and is also beneficial in piles, fever and tumour diseases.

Nature

The nature of pigeon pea is hot and dry.

Treatment of various diseases with pigeon pea

1. Itching:

Burning pigeon pea leaves and applying its ash mixed with curd cures itching.

2. Snake venom:

Chewing and eating pigeon pea roots is beneficial in snake venom.

3. Wounds:

Applying ground tender pigeon pea leaves heals wounds.

4. Sweat:

Mix a handful of pigeon pea lentils, a spoon of salt and half a spoon of ground dry ginger and add it to mustard oil, temper and grind. Massaging the body with this powder stops sweating. This can also be used in case of sweating in case of syncope.

5. Nerve burning:

Grind pigeon pea (rahari) lentils with water and make a paste. Applying this paste on the nerve burning cures the disease quickly.

6. Headache:

Extracting juice from raw pigeon pea leaves and green grass, filtering it and smelling it cures half head pain. Throat diseases: Soak pigeon peas in water overnight. In the morning, heat this water and gargle for at least two to three times for some time to relieve throat swelling.
