Properties Of Moong Dal And Its Ayurvedic Treatment

 


Introduction

Moong dal is a dicotyledonous grain and among all pulses, moong is considered good due to its special properties. Moong is considered very good for patients. Moong is of many types like black, green, yellow, white and red.
Black moong is light to digest. Moong khichdi, dal etc. are made from moong. Papad, badiya etc. are also made from moong dal. Vegetable is also made by boiling moong and nutritious moong laddus are also made and they are consumed in the winter season.

Properties

Moong dal is not at all gas-causing as compared to moong. Moong dal pacifies Vata, Pitta and Kapha. Moong stops stool and is beneficial for eyes and removes fever.

Treatment of various diseases

1. Fever:

Mung bean should be eaten with its peel.
In case of fever, cook mung bean by adding dried Indian gooseberry to it. Eating it twice a day will cure fever and clear stools.

2. Constipation:

Eating rice and mung bean khichdi relieves constipation. Make mung bean khichdi and rice.
Then add salt and ghee to it and eat. This relieves constipation and clears stools.

3. In case of excessive sweating:

Bake mung bean and grind it. Then add water to it and mix it well and massage it on the body like a paste.
This stops excessive sweating.

4. In case of burns from fire:

Grind mung bean with water and apply it on the burnt part of the body to get relief.

5. Shakti Vardhak (Enhancing Power):

Eating moong laddus increases power. Roast moong and make flour.
Take ghee equal to the flour, keep it in a pan on low flame and keep stirring with a ladle. When the flour turns red, sprinkle milk on it from time to time. While doing this, when the grains fall, take the pan down from the stove, add sugar, almonds, pistachios, cardamom, cloves and black pepper powder in it and make laddus. These moong laddus are cooling, semen enhancing and anti-gas.

6. Typhoid:


Giving moong dal to the patient gives relief. But do not use ghee and spices with the dal at all.

7. Frequent urination:

Put water in an iron vessel at night and soak 50 grams of lentils in it.
Drinking the water of this dal in sips every morning reduces the frequency of urination.

8. Fever:

Taking 40 ml decoction of the Panchang (leaves, stem, fruit, flower and root) of Banmung 2 to 3 times a day reduces fever.


Decoction of Banmung leaves strengthens the body and reduces sleep and irritation.

9. Swelling of eyes:

Mixing moong dal (washed and peeled) and fine powder equal to the navel of a conch with honey and applying it like kajal in the eyes removes swelling of the eyes.


10. Pitta fever:

Bitta fever is cured by drinking juice of moong and liquorice.

11. Breast milk disorders:

Consuming moong soup in the amount of 14 to 28 ml in the morning and evening cures breast milk disorders.

12. Mumps:

Feeding moong, barley and parwal etc.
to the patient gives relief in mumps (lumps in the throat).

13. Ringworm:


Soak moong dal with peel in enough water so that the dal absorbs the water. After soaking for 2 hours, grind the dal and apply it on ringworm and itching to get relief.


14. Physical Beauty:


To brighten the skin before bathing, soak and grind moong dal. Then grind dry orange peels and mix it in it. After this, add a little cream to it, this paste will be ready. By applying this paste and taking bath, the skin will glow.
