Introduction
Lasoda trees are very big and its leaves are smooth. In South, Gujarat and Rajputana, people use Lasoda instead of Paan. Lasoda tastes like Paan. There are three to four species of this tree but the main two are called Lameda and Lasoda. It is also quite famous by the name of small and big Lasoda. The wood of Lasoda is very smooth and strong. Its planks are made for building work and it is also used in the butt of the gun. Along with this, many other useful things are made. Its fruits are equal to betel nut. Raw Lasoda greens and pickle are also made. Ripe Lasoda is sweet and inside it there is smooth and sweet juice like gum, which makes the body fat.
Properties
Lasoda softens the stomach and chest and is beneficial in hoarseness and swelling of the throat. It removes the defects of bile through diarrhea and also removes the defects of mucus and blood. It removes the intensity of bile and blood and stops thirst. Lasoda removes burning sensation in urine, fever, asthma and dry cough and chest pain. Eating its buds removes burning sensation in urine and gonorrhea. It is bitter, cool, astringent, digestive and sweet. Its use destroys stomach worms, pain, phlegm, smallpox, boils, herpes (cluster of small pimples) and all types of poisons. Its fruits are cool, sweet, bitter and light. Its ripe fruits are sweet, cool and nutritious, they are dry, heavy and eliminate Vata.
Harmful effects
Use of Lasoda in excess quantity can be harmful for stomach and liver.
Treatment of various diseases
1. Diarrhea:
Diarrhea is cured by grinding the bark of Lasoda in water and drinking it.
2. Cholera:
Grinding the bark of Lasoda in gram bark and giving it to the patient of cholera is beneficial in cholera.
3. Toothache:
Making a decoction of the bark of Lasoda and gargling with that decoction relieves toothache.
4. Staminavardhaka:
Dry the fruits of Lasoda and make their powder. Mix this powder in sugar syrup and make laddus. Eating this makes the body fat and the waist strong.
5. Swelling:
Grinding the bark of Lasoda and applying its paste on the eyes provides relief from the pain of Shitala in the eyes.
6. Recurrent fever:
Making a decoction of the bark of Lasoda and consuming 20 to 40 ml in the morning and evening is beneficial.
7. Leucorrhoea:
Grinding the soft leaves of Lasoda and extracting the juice and drinking it cures both leucorrhoea and gonorrhoea.
8. Ringworm:
Grinding the pulp of Lasoda seeds and applying it on ringworm cures it.
9. Boils:
Making a bundle of Lasoda leaves and tying it on the boils cures the boils quickly.
10. Throat diseases:
Gargling with the decoction of the bark of Lasoda cures all the diseases of the throat.
