Introduction
Neem tree is very big. Neem tree plays a special role in purifying the environment, because beneficial elements are found in Neem leaves which keep destroying bacteria. Due to these disease resistance powers of Neem, `Antiseptic´ medicines are made from it. Ancient Aryan sages have described Neem as endowed with supernatural properties that Neem removes many types of diseases from the human body. Many people have survived for many days by eating Neem leaves, and have also lived a normal life by remaining strong. The shade of Neem tree is very pleasant in summer days. Gum is obtained from Neem tree, from which medicines are made. Its tree is planted in temples, Dharamshalas, roads etc. for cool and fresh air. In the village, the people of the house which has a Neem tree in its courtyard do not remain ill because they keep using Neem.
When the neem tree becomes very old, its wood starts emitting a fragrance like that of pure sandalwood. Neem wood is used for building construction etc. Being bitter, it does not attract insects. The neem tree remains alive for many years. There is a good saying about neem that neem is bitter to eat but is very beneficial. Therefore, it should be used. The neem tree is much better than the acacia tree, because the acacia tree on the edge of the field sucks all the essential nutritious mineral salts. But the neem tree is beneficial for the crops. Therefore, farmers must plant it on the edge of their fields.
Properties
According to Ayurvedic opinion, neem is bitter. It is a cure for Vata, Pitta, Kapha, blood disorder (cleanses blood), skin diseases and is a disinfectant. Neem cures diseases like malaria, dental diseases, constipation, jaundice, hair diseases, leprosy, burning sensation, bloody bile, headache, vomiting, spermatorrhoea (semen disorder), heart burning sensation, gas, fatigue, anorexia (appetite enhancer), fever, stomach worms, poison, eye diseases, leucorrhoea etc. According to Unani system of medicine, neem is hot and dry. Neem gum increases blood flow and is a blood purifier (cleanses the blood). It is a good medicine for syphilis (heat) and skin diseases.
According to homeopathic system of medicine, neem has medicines for the oldest diseases like skin diseases, leprosy, quinine etc. According to scientific analysis, various types of elements are found in neem such as Margosine, Sodium Margosate, Nimbidin, Nimbosterol, Nimbinin, Stearic Acid, Olive Acid, Palmitic Acid, Volatile Oil and Tannin etc. 45% of the fixed oil obtained from the seeds is found in which sulfur, resin, alkaloid, glucoside and fatty acid are found. Along with this, small amounts of iron, calcium and potassium salts are also found in small quantities. Neem gum also contains 26% pentosans, 12% galactins and small amounts of albumins and oxides.
Harmful effects
Neem is harmful for those people who have a dry (rough) nature. Those who have weak sexual power should also avoid using neem in excess.
Treatment for various diseases
1. Bloody (boil):
Grind neem wood in water and apply a one inch thick paste on the boil. This cures the boil.
2. Bleeding from nose:
Grind neem leaves and carom seeds in equal quantity and apply it on the temples to stop bleeding from the nose.
3. Premature graying of hair (Palitya disease):
Taking 2-2 drops of neem seed oil through the nose and consuming only cow milk is beneficial in Palitya disease. Smelling neem oil makes hair black.
Give several infusions of bhangra and vijayasar juice to neem seeds and extract the oil from the seeds, then taking 2-2 drops of it through the nose and consuming only milk and rice in the diet makes white hair black.
4. Dandruff:
Make a decoction of a handful of neem leaves and rub it on the head 1 hour before bathing to get rid of dandruff.
Dry neem seeds, mix them with aritha and grind them finely. Mix 2 teaspoons of this in a glass of warm water and wash the head with it. This will get rid of head lice, nits, bad odor and make the hair black and soft.
Grind neem leaves, boil them in water and let it cool down. After this, filter it and wash the head with it and massage the hair properly. After the hair dries, take equal amounts of clean castor oil and coconut oil, mix them and massage the head properly with it. This will get rid of dandruff.
5. Measles:
Keeping neem leaves on the bed of a measles patient daily calms down the heat inside.
Boil fresh and soft neem leaves in water and filter it, then soak a clean cloth in it and put it on the eyes of the patient suffering from measles to remove redness of the eyes.
Bath of the patient with neem water relieves the burning sensation in measles.
6. Parasitis in half of the body (hemiplegia):
Massage with neem oil for 3 weeks is beneficial.
7. Baldness and hair growth:
Grind 10 grams of neem leaves and 10 grams of plum leaves thoroughly and make a paste. Massage this paste on the bald head and wash it after 1 to 2 hours to get hair growth. Using it for 1 month is beneficial.
Applying neem oil on the patches of hair daily for 2-3 months helps in hair growth.
Boil 100 grams of neem leaves in 1 liter of water and then wash the hair and apply neem oil. This helps in hair growth.
Baldness can be cured by smelling neem oil.
8. Making hair strong and preventing hair fall:
Boil neem leaves well in water. After this, take it off and let it cool. Washing the head with this water makes the hair strong and black and stops hair fall.
Apply neem oil on hair before sleeping at night and wash head with neem soap in the morning. Regular use for a few days removes lice and nits from the head. Along with this, hair becomes strong.
Applying neem oil makes hair thick again.
Boil neem and plum leaves in water, wash hair and dry them. Now apply neem oil on the roots of hair and rub it to stop hair fall.
If hair fall has just started, then for this you should boil neem and plum leaves in water. Washing hair with this reduces hair fall. This way hair will become black as well as long. Lice also die with its use. While washing the head, take care that this water enters the eyes. For this keep the eyes closed.
9. In case of itching in the head:
Make a decoction of neem leaves and wash the head. Applying neem oil after washing the head stops the itching caused by lice and nits. Grinding neem seeds and applying them is also beneficial.
10. Pimples and Acne:
Take neem leaves, pomegranate peel, lodhra and harad in equal amounts and grind them with milk to make a paste. Applying this paste on the face daily brightens the face and face.
Rub neem wood without neem bark with water like sandalwood and apply it on pimples continuously for 7 days, it completely eliminates pimples. Rub neem root in water and apply it to remove pimples and make the face beautiful.
11. Dental diseases:
Brushing with neem gives relief in dental diseases.
Gargle with decoction made of neem flowers 3 times a day and chewing a thin twig with teeth and brushing teeth in the morning and evening gives relief from diseases of teeth and gums.
Rubbing juice of neem leaves removes bacteria from teeth.
Applying oil obtained from the seeds of neem's Nimboli on teeth removes tooth worms and reduces toothache.
By boiling neem leaves in water and filtering it with a clean cloth and gargling with it, bacteria from teeth are destroyed and it also gives relief in pyorrhea.
Grind 50 grams of neem root bark powder, 50 grams of Sonageru, 10 grams of rock salt, mix it with neem leaves juice, dry it and keep it in a bottle. Using this as toothpaste gives relief from diseases like bleeding from teeth, pus coming out, blisters in mouth, bad breath, nausea etc.
Grind 100 grams of neem root and boil it in 500 ml water. When 250 ml water is left, gargle with this water to cure dental problems.
Brushing neem toothbrush as soon as you wake up in the morning and gargling with decoction of flowers cures tooth and gum problems and strengthens teeth.
12. Making toothpaste:
After drying neem twigs and leaves in shade, burn them and make them ash. Grind them and make toothpaste. Add cloves, peppermint and salt to it for fragrance and taste. It cures pyorrhea and strengthens teeth.
Boil neem buds in water and gargle to get rid of toothache.
3 grams of powder of dried neem flowers filtered through a cloth should be taken with hot water every night.
13. Eyelash hair fall:
Grind fresh neem leaves, squeeze them and apply them on the eyelashes to stop eyelash hair fall.
14. Eye swelling:
Boil 10 to 15 green neem leaves in 1 glass of water. After this, mix half a teaspoon alum in it and filter the water. Washing the eyes with this water 3 times cures eye swelling and itching.
15. In eye diseases:
Heat the juice of soft neem leaves and drop 2 drops each in the ear of the opposite side of the eye in pain, it reduces eye and ear pain.
Take neem leaves and lodhra in equal quantity and grind them to make powder, then make a bundle of this powder and let it soak in water. Later, pouring this water in the eyes reduces eye swelling.
Grind neem leaves and dry ginger, add a little rock salt to it, heat it and tie a cloth bandage on the eyes at night. This ends the swelling on the eyes along with pain and inner itching. Keep in mind that the patient should protect the eyes from cold water and cold air.
Put 500 grams of neem leaves between 2 earthen pots in a fire of cow dung cakes. When it cools down, grind the ash inside with 100 ml lemon juice and dry it. Applying its anjan (kajal) gives relief in eye diseases.
Grind 50 grams of neem leaves with water and make a tablet and cook it in mustard oil. When it turns black after burning, then grind it in the same oil and add 500 grams of camphor and 500 grams of kalmishora to it and grind it well and fill it in a glass bottle. Applying it like kajal in the eyes at night and consuming Triphala with water in the morning removes irritation, redness, cataract, fog etc. from the eyes and improves eyesight.
Collect 20 pieces of neem buds, 20 grams of zinc ash, 6 pieces of cloves, 6 pieces of small cardamom and 20 grams of sugar candy and grind them finely to make kohl. Applying a little of it in the eyes in the morning and evening cures fog.
Spread 20 dry neem leaves on 10 grams of clean cotton, then put 1 gram of camphor powder on the neem leaves and wrap the cotton and make a wick. Soak this wick in 10 grams of cow ghee and make kajal out of it. Applying this prepared kajal at night improves eyesight.
Concentrating the juice of neem leaves and applying it as anjan (kajal) is beneficial in itching of eyes and falling of eyelashes.
16. Cataract:
Applying a small amount of fine powder of neem seed kernels in eyes like kajal every day is beneficial.
Applying the ash of the bark of neem stem like Surma in eyes removes blurriness of eyes.
Cataract is cured by applying fine powder of neem or lotus flower with honey in eyes like kajal at night before sleeping.
17. Diarrhea:
Wash and dry the green leaves of neem and grind them, swallow half a teaspoon of it twice a day with cold water after meals in the morning and evening. Taking it for a few days stops the mucus coming.
Dry the green leaves of neem in the shade and make a fine powder. Consuming half a teaspoon of this powder in the form of a sniffer with cold water in the morning and evening stops the mucus.
18. Swelling of the eyes, fog:
Grind the dried flowers of neem, kalmi shorea finely, filter it in a cloth and apply it as kajal in the eyes to improve the eyesight. In case of night blindness (loss of vision in the evening), the milk of raw fruits can be applied to the eyes.
19. Headache:
Take equal amounts of dried neem leaves, black pepper and rice and grind them finely to make a powder. After waking up in the morning, inhale about one-fourth of 1 gram of this powder in the nose of the side where the pain is. This instantly cures the chronic half head ache.
By dripping 2 to 3 drops of the juice of fresh neem leaves in the nose, one gets benefit.
Headache is relieved by massaging with Neem oil.
Headache is relieved by drinking decoction of Neem bark and Amla.
In case of headache, rub Neem bark, tree bark and sandalwood and apply it as a paste on the head or forehead to get rid of headache.
20. Fever:
Grind Neem leaves, Giloy, Tulsi leaves, Hurahura leaves 20-20 grams and black pepper 6 grams finely and mix them with water to make tablets of about one-fourth gram each. Taking 1 tablet each with warm water after an interval of 2-2 hours is beneficial in influenza.
Grind Neem bark 5 grams, cloves about half a gram or cinnamon about half a gram and make powder. Taking 2 grams of this powder with water in the morning and evening provides relief in normal fever.
Grind soft neem leaves, tie them in a cloth and extract the juice. Mix honey in this juice and consume it 2-3 times a day to reduce fever.
Grind dry ginger, giloy, neem bark, coriander, red sandalwood, padmakashth etc. and consume it to end fever.
Drinking decoction of neem bark cures continuous fever.
Make an eighth decoction of neem bark, kutki, chiraita, giloy and atis and drink it in the morning and evening to get relief.
