Introduction
The original place of origin of mint is the Mediterranean region, but nowadays mint is being produced in most countries of the world. There is also a type of hill variety of mint. Mint is grown in almost all the regions of India. Mint has a strong fragrance. Mint chutney is made of mint. Mint is used in curry and in making decoction. It is also used in dal-saag etc. If green and fresh mint is not available, then its leaves can be dried and used. Juice is extracted from mint. Mint is produced by sowing the root of mint in the ground. Mint can be grown in any season. Mint can be grown in lawns outside the houses, in large pots. Mint leaves give a mild fragrance.
Properties
Pudina is heavy, sweet, tasty, prevents excreta, removes phlegm, cough, intoxication and increases appetite. It cures cholera, dysentery (excessive diarrhoea), dysentery, worms and chronic fever. It makes the mind happy, removes heart and kidney defects, stops hiccups, eliminates flatulence, induces urination and sweating, helps in child birth, smelling it cures unconsciousness. Mint is beneficial in diseases like indigestion, bad breath, gas problems, hiccups, fever, stomach ache, vomiting, diarrhoea, cold, cough etc. Mint is used in the form of extract (juice), soup, drink. It enhances the beauty of the face, removes heat from the skin, destroys germs of diseases and cools the heart. It is also beneficial in case of bites of poisonous insects and in childbed fever.
Harmful effects
Mint is harmful for the metal. Due to its bile-causing nature, people with bile nature should consume mint in small quantities only occasionally. Consuming it regularly in large quantities is beneficial.
Treatment of various diseases
1. Intestinal worms:
Intestinal worms are eliminated by giving mint juice to the patient.
2. Scorpion bite:
In case of scorpion bite, applying mint paste and grinding it in water and giving it to the patient is beneficial.
3. Stomach ache and loss of appetite:
By adding asafoetida, cumin, black pepper and a little salt in 3 grams of mint juice, heating it and drinking it, stomach ache and loss of appetite (lack of desire to eat) are cured.
4. Skin diseases:
Applying turmeric and mint juice in equal amounts is beneficial in skin diseases like itching.
5. Cold and cough:
Mixing mint leaves and black pepper and giving hot tea to the patient provides relief in cold, cough, asthma and fever.
6. Intestinal worms:
Giving half a cup of mint juice twice a day regularly for a few days eliminates the intestinal worms.
7. Indigestion (indigestion), lack of appetite:
Chewing 8-10 mint leaves with 4-6 raisins regularly after meals in the morning and evening will provide relief.
8. Cough:
Mixing a quarter cup of mint juice in the same amount of water and drinking it 3 times a day provides relief in cough, cold, phlegm-asthma and poor digestion.
9. Heat of the skin:
Grind green mint and apply it on the face for twenty minutes to remove heat from the skin.
10. Cold:
Boil mint, five black peppercorns and salt as per your wish and drink it three times a day to get relief from cold, cough and mild fever.
Putting a few drops of mint juice in the nose is beneficial in the disease of sinus (cold).
Making mint tea and adding a little salt in it and drinking it is beneficial in cough and cold.
Putting 1-2 drops of mint juice in the nose cures sinus (cold).
11. Blood clotting:
When blood clots due to an injury (forms a lump), drinking the extract of mint (juice) melts the lump.
12. Hives:
Boil 10 or 20 grams of mint in 200 ml water, filter it and drink it to cure the recurring hives.
13. Scorpion sting:
Drinking mint juice or eating its leaves relieves the pain caused by scorpion sting.
14. Headache:
Applying green mint juice on the head relieves headache.
Grind mint leaves in water and apply it on the forehead to get rid of headache.
15. Children's diseases:
If there is pain in the ear, put mint juice or green poppy juice in the ear.
16. Cholera:
Drinking mint juice is beneficial in cholera, cough, vomiting and dysentery. It also eliminates gas and worms from the stomach.
In case of cholera, giving the patient a mixture of mint, onion and lemon juice is beneficial.
If a person is suffering from cholera, giving onion juice to him provides relief from cholera.
30 mint leaves, 4 black peppers, 2 pinches of black salt, 2 roasted cardamoms, 1 ripe tamarind. Make chutney by adding water to all these things. Give this chutney to the patient to lick again and again.
30 mint leaves, 3 pieces of black pepper, 1 gram of black salt, 2 roasted cardamoms, 1 gram of raw or ripe tamarind, grind all these with water and make a chutney. Giving this chutney to a cholera patient cures stomach pain, vomiting, diarrhea and thirst etc.
Mixing 10-10 ml of mint, onion and lemon juice and giving it to the patient in small quantities is very beneficial in cholera. This also stops vomiting quickly.
17. Air related diseases:
Drinking decoction of mint, basil, black pepper and ginger cures air related diseases (Vata disease) and also increases appetite.
18. Intestinal diseases:
Consuming fresh mint juice with honey cures intestinal problems and stomach diseases. Consuming fresh mint juice is very beneficial for patients suffering from intestinal diseases.
