Daru Haldi trees grow in the form of bushes in the Himalayan region. It is also found in the areas of Bihar, Parasnath and Nilgiri hills. Its tree is 150 to 480 cm high, thorny, bush-like. Its stem is 8-9 inches thick. Its thorny leaves are 2 to 3 inches long. Its flowers are white or yellow in color, in bunches on 2-3 inch long panicles. Its fruit is known as Jarishk. Its root is small and big knotty with a yellow tinge. Only pieces of the root with yellow bitterness and mild smell like turmeric are sold. It is named Daru Haldi because the stalk and root are completely yellow. It has no similarity with normal turmeric. Its 6 species are found. But they are almost similar in properties.
Properties
The properties of Daruhaldi are also similar to those of turmeric. Especially it cures wounds, gonorrhoea, itching, and blood disorders, it destroys skin defects, poison and eye diseases.
Harmful effects
Its excessive consumption is harmful for people with hot temperament.
Treatment for various diseases
1. Fever:
Fever is cured by giving 2 teaspoons of decoction prepared from the root of Daruhaldi 3 times a day.
2. Diarrhea:
Mix the bark of the root of Daruhaldi and dry ginger in equal quantities and grind them. Diarrhea stops by consuming 1 teaspoon 3 times a day.
3. Teeth and gum diseases:
Mixing equal quantity of turmeric decoction with honey and giving it to the patient in the amount of 2 teaspoons in the morning and evening provides quick relief in teeth and gum diseases.
4. Leucorrhoea:
Mixing equal quantity of turmeric, cinnamon and honey and consuming it 3 times a day in the amount of 1 teaspoon provides relief in leucorrhoea.
5. Swelling:
Applying paste made of turmeric 2-3 times removes stiffness of swelling and provides relief from pain.
6. Wounds:
Applying paste of turmeric on injury and wound prevents blood clotting and the wound heals soon.
7. Joining of broken bones:
Mixing equal quantity of turmeric powder with egg white and consuming it in the amount of 2 teaspoons every day in the morning and evening helps in healing broken bones quickly.
8. Bloody piles:
Mix the stem, root and fruit of Daruhaldi in equal quantity and prepare a paste. Applying it on the anus and warts is very beneficial in the disease of bloody piles.
9. Eye diseases:
Applying the paste of Daruhaldi on the eyelids with closed eyes and sleeping is beneficial in diseases like eye pain, redness, grittiness etc.
10. Mouth ulcers:
Make a decoction by boiling 20 grams of Daruhaldi in 300 grams of water. Filter this decoction and gargle 2 to 3 times a day to cure mouth sores, sores and rashes.
Make a decoction of Daruhaldi, turmeric, cinnamon, Padhal, Nagarmotha and Indrajau and gargle to cure throat and tongue diseases.
Mix honey in the thick juice of Daruhaldi and drink it to cure mouth sores and sores.
11. Ear discharge:
Putting a little powder of Daruhaldi in the ear every day cures the problem of pus discharge from the ear.
12. Fistula:
Make powder of Daruhaldi, mix it well with milk of Aak, heat it slightly and make a wick of it and apply it on the wound.
Taking Daruhaldi, home made smoke, turmeric, Lodhra, Bach, sesame, neem leaves and myrobalan in equal quantity and grinding it finely with water and applying it on the wound purifies and heals the fistula.
