Introduction

Camphor is an evergreen tree which is found in many states of India and is also found in the mountainous regions of Dehradun. Apart from India, its trees are also found in countries like China, Japan and Borneo.
The height of camphor tree can be 100 feet and width 6 to 8 feet. The bark of its stem is rough and dusty from the top and smooth from the inside. Its leaves are smooth, alternate, fragrant, green and light yellow in colour. Its leaves are 2 to 4 inches long. Its flowers are small and white in colour in clusters. Its fruits turn black when ripe. The seeds are small. The smell of camphor keeps coming from all parts of the tree. By lightly cutting its bark, a type of gum comes out which is called camphor after drying.

Harmful effects

Consuming camphor in excess quantity has a toxic effect on the body, which causes symptoms like stomach ache, vomiting, delirium, confusion, paralysis, obstruction in urination, numbness of the limbs, insanity, unconsciousness, poor eyesight, blueness of the body, swelling of the face, diarrhea, impotence, drowsiness, weakness, anemia, etc.


Treatment of various diseases

1. Skin diseases:

Grind camphor and mix it with coconut oil and apply it on the skin 2 to 3 times a day regularly for a few days, it cures skin diseases.

Cold and cough:


A patient suffering from cold and cough should wrap a piece of camphor in a handkerchief and smell it repeatedly.
This provides relief from cold and opens the blocked nose.

3. Headache:

If you have a headache, grind camphor and sandalwood in basil juice and apply a paste on the head. This cures headache.

Fill camphor and ammonium chloride in a bottle and smell it when you have a headache.
This cures headache.

If you have a headache, mix Gulrogan juice and camphor juice and put 2 to 3 drops of it in the nose to cure migraine (half head pain).

Applying or rubbing camphor juice on the head cures headache.


4. Impotence:

If a person has become impotent, he should grind camphor in ghee and make a paste and massage the penis with it. Impotence is cured by using it for a few weeks.

5. Eye diseases:


A patient suffering from eye disease should grind Bhimseni camphor with milk and apply it on the eyes with the finger.
This is beneficial in many diseases.

6. Increase in breast milk:

If a woman's breast-feeding child dies, then milk continues to be produced in the breasts after his death. In such a situation, to remove excess milk in the breasts, grind camphor in water and make a paste and apply it on the breasts 3 times a day.
This reduces the excessive production of milk in the breasts.

7. Scorpion sting:


The patient suffering from scorpion sting should mix camphor in vinegar and apply it on the stung area. This destroys the poison of the scorpion.

8. Labor pain:

If there is severe pain during delivery, then the woman should be fed 125 mg camphor mixed in ripe banana.
By consuming this, the child is born comfortably.

9. Rheumatism (gout):


The patient suffering from arthritis pain should mix camphor in turpentine oil and massage the affected parts in the morning and evening. This eliminates the pain of rheumatism (gout).

10. Hemoptysis:


A patient suffering from hemoptysis should grind some camphor, mix it with rose water and drip its juice into the nose.
This destroys hemoptysis.

11. Wound:

If the wound is not healing quickly, camphor should be applied on it.

12. Asthma:


Mix 125 mg camphor and 125 grams asafoetida and consume it 3 times a day to cure breathing problems (asthma). Grind 10 grams camphor and 10 grams roasted asafoetida and mix ginger juice in it and make pills equal to gram size.
Dry these pills in shade and consume 1 pill 3-4 times a day with water. Its consumption provides relief in asthma.

Put camphor in water and boil it and smell the steam coming out of it. This cures breathing problems.


In case of breathing problems, injuries and sprains etc., one should suck a little camphor in the mouth every night. This cures all diseases.

13. Itching:

Mix 10 grams camphor, 10 grams white catechu and 5 grams sindoor in a glass vessel and then add 100 grams ghee and mash it well.
Then wash this mixture 121 times with water. Applying this prepared ointment on itchy skin removes itching. Its use on rotten wounds is also beneficial.

14. Worms in children's stomach:


If a child has worms in his stomach, then mix a little camphor in jaggery and give it to him, the worms die and come out.
This gives quick relief from stomach pain.

15. Swelling of eyes:

Grind camphor and mix it in banyan milk and apply it on swollen eyes for 2 months. This cures swelling of eyes.

16. Mutraghat (semen coming in urine):

The patient suffering from mutraghat disease should make a wick of cloth in camphor powder and keep it on the penis.
This cures mutraghat.

If urination has stopped, then a piece of camphor should be kept on the penis. This will help in passing urine freely.

If urination has stopped, grind camphor in water and soak a cloth in it and make a wick out of it and keep it on the penis.
This will cure the disease.

17. Eyelash hair fall:


Mixing camphor in lemon juice and applying it on the eyelashes cures eyelash hair fall.

18. Stomach ache:


Consuming 4 or 5 pieces of camphor mixed with sugar will cure stomach ache.

19. Chest disease:

Burning camphor and inhaling its smoke through the nose cures chest disease.


20. Uterine pain:

Mixing camphor in ghee and rubbing it below the navel and eating 3-4 pieces of it with sugar cures uterine pain.

21. Eye pain:

Applying camphor powder as an eye ointment cures eye pain. If someone is unable to sleep, he should apply camphor in the eyes.
This induces sleep.

22. Nocturnal emission:


Grind 130 milligrams of camphor with one teaspoon of sugar and swallow it every night before sleeping to cure nocturnal emission.

23. Indigestion:

Make small tablets by taking camphor and asafoetida in equal quantities and consume 1 tablet each with cold water 3 times a day. This cures indigestion.
