During the change of weather, the body of a person is unable to bear the changes in the environment and gets afflicted with cold and cough due to the effect of cold and heat. Cold starts from the nose but gradually its effect starts to be felt on the whole body. There is no treatment for cold. Home remedies are more useful in this disease which subsides automatically. Whenever you have a sore throat and your nose gets blocked in winter, add a pinch of salt to a glass of warm water and gargle. This will clear your throat and it prevents the virus from entering your body again.

2. Consuming ginger with honey in the morning and evening also provides quick relief from cold and cough.

3. Steam taken from a steam vaporizer will provide relief from clogged nose and mucus. If you do not have a steam inhaler, you can also take steam by putting hot water in a kettle.


4. If turmeric is taken with hot milk, it removes phlegm and also gives great relief in cold.

5. A cup of hot tea with ginger, basil, mint and black pepper is an effective home remedy to get relief from cold.


6. Grind raisins and make a paste with water. Add sugar to it, boil it and leave it to cool. Taking it every night before sleeping provides relief from cold.

7. Turmeric is very beneficial in the treatment of cold.
To stop a runny nose, burn turmeric and inhale its smoke, this will increase the flow of water from the nose and provide immediate relief.

8. Drink hot Rasam, a South Indian soup made from tamarind and black pepper, because it helps in removing unnecessary toxins present in your body.

9. If the nose is blocked, take cinnamon, black pepper, cardamom and cumin in equal quantities and tie them in a cotton cloth and smell them repeatedly, which will cause sneezing and the blocked nose will also open.

11. Tulsi is very effective in cold and cough. If you want, you can chew and eat basil leaves or boil them in water and make a decoction and drink it, both ways are beneficial.
