Research done at Penn State has revealed the fact that consuming calorie-reducing soup before meals helps a lot in reducing calories. Not only this, consuming soup reduces your calories by up to 20 percent.


According to researcher Barbara Rolls, different types of soups have different effects on the amount of food going into the body. She also says that the purpose of our research is to find out the effect of different types of soups on the body.


Along with this, in this research, the researchers also believed that the way the soup is made also has a great effect on the amount of food consumed. In this research, soups made from chicken, broccoli, potatoes, cauliflower, carrots and butter were studied.


Not only this, soups prepared in different forms from these vegetables using different methods were also tested. The research revealed that the amount of chewing of different types of soups also depends on how much that soup can reduce calories.


Along with this, it was also found in this research that consumption of soups containing excess cream or those which increase calories is very harmful for the body. Consumption of such soups can lead to an increase of 100 to 150 calories. The full details of this research were presented at the Experimental Biology Conference held in Washington.
