At present, respiratory diseases are increasing day by day all over the world. Most of the children, men and women are suffering from these types of respiratory diseases. In this article, we are telling about Ayurvedic Holy Basil (Tulsi) treatment for respiratory diseases.
1. Cold
Causes and symptoms: Cold usually occurs during the transition period of seasons. However, it occurs in every season. Cold usually occurs due to constipation and catching cold. It occurs due to continuous wetting in water, sudden cessation of sweating, excessive use of cold beverages, suppressing natural impulses, living in a polluted environment, excessive drinking of alcohol or excessive consumption of tobacco, etc. It is an infectious disease. It causes inflammation in the mucous membrane of the nose.At the beginning of the disease, mucus flows from the nose or the nose becomes completely dry and blocked, sneezing, dryness in the nose, headache, burning sensation in the nose, red eyes, blocked ears, cough with phlegm, etc. are the symptoms of cold. Especially at night, when the nose gets blocked, the patient has to breathe through the mouth.
The severe form of cold is catarrh. In this, water-like mucus keeps flowing from the nose continuously. If the cold is not treated on time, the hair turns white. The eyes become weak and the body withers prematurely.
Treatment
- Mixing 1 gram each of cardamom, cinnamon, dry ginger and 6 grams of basil leaves and making tea and giving it to the patient three to four times a day gives quick relief from cold and cough.
- Mixing the juice of basil leaves with honey and consuming it four times a day cures the fever that comes with cold and cough. It ends.
- Grinding 6-6 grams of basil leaves, dry ginger and small cardamom and 1 gram of cinnamon and boiling it, adding some sugar and consuming this decoction four times a day cures cold and cough.
- Grinding basil seeds, giloy and kateli root in equal quantity and mixing 4 ratti honey and giving it to the patient for three days cures cold and cough completely.
- Mixing honey in the juice of ginger, onion and basil and giving it to the patient is beneficial.
- Giving tea made of 3 grams of dried basil leaves and 1 gram of ginger juice to the patient provides relief.
- Grinding basil leaves and making powder and smelling it like snuff also provides relief to the patient from cold and cough.
2. Cough
Cause and symptoms: Cough is not a disease in itself but a symptom of some other disease. Generally cough occurs due to the malfunction of the windpipe. It occurs due to the worsening of cold or the worsening of vata, pitta or phlegm. Other main reasons for this are seasonal changes, pollution, obstruction in breathing due to dust and smoke, worsening of cold, living in cold, strong smell, constipation, disorder in the larynx etc. It is of two types - dry and wet (phlegmatic) cough.In dry cough, phlegm does not come out. A little phlegm comes out on coughing a lot. Due to this, there is tightness in the chest, pain in the heart and ribs, sometimes headache and fever also.
In phlegmatic cough, a lot of phlegm comes out easily on coughing a little. Vomiting, lack of appetite, laziness, stiffness in the body etc. are experienced. Excessive phlegm is not considered to be coming out. Such cough is considered to be a sign of bronchitis and tuberculosis.
Treatment
- Ginger, onion and basil seeds crushed in equal quantity and mixed with honey and given to the patient is beneficial.
- Grind dry basil leaves and sugar candy and make powder and consume it with 5 grams of water, it is beneficial in this disease.
- Grind 20 grams of pomegranate seeds, 10 grams of black pepper, 10 grams of catechu, 10 grams of pepper, 10 grams of basil leaves and 5 grams of barley powder with 100 grams of jaggery and make pills. Sucking these pills provides relief from cough.
3. Influenza (mucus fever)
Cause and symptoms: In this disease, cold starts and then suddenly there is high fever of 103°, headache, weakness, back and bone pain, burning sensation in throat and mouth, severe dry cough, sneezing, the first symptoms of this disease appear very quickly. A layer of white dirt forms on the tongue and appetite disappears. There is severe pain in the head and back.
This is a type of contagious disease which is often contracted by contaminated clothes and air. This disease usually occurs in the winter season. It also causes vomiting and bile-filled diarrhea, jaundice and arthritis. Till date, no sure shot medicine for this disease has been discovered in allopathy.
Treatment
- Grind 10 grams each of basil leaves, carom seeds, dry ginger and make a powder. By giving half a teaspoon of this powder, the patient's fever subsides in two hours. By giving it to the patient three to four times a day, the patient's fever ends completely. Boil 10 grams of basil leaves in 250 grams of water.
- Boil 10 grams of basil leaves in 250 grams of water. When 125 grams of decoction is left, add a little rock salt and give it to the patient to consume lukewarm for three to four days, the fever ends.
- Grind 50 grams of basil leaves, five black peppers and boil them in half a kilo of water, prepare 250 grams of decoction and give it to the patient to consume lukewarm for 2-3 days, it will be beneficial.
4. Tuberculosis (TB) RajyaYakshma
Causes and symptoms: This disease is caused by a germ 'Bacillus Tuberculosis'. It is an infectious disease. The germs of this disease are found in the saliva. When the patient coughs, sneezes and spits, these germs fly in the air and enter the body of a healthy person through the air and make him sick. Apart from this, this disease is also caused by bad eating habits, excessive worry, working beyond capacity, excessive sex, excessive smoking, alcohol, staying in dust, smoke and dark places etc.In the beginning, the person feels tired with mild fever. Gradually he starts getting weak. Gradually, cough starts and blood also starts coming with the cough. At night, while sleeping, sweating occurs, heart beat increases and there is pain in the chest. Apart from this, symptoms like loss of appetite, indigestion, nausea, excessive thirst, pain in the chest, difficulty in breathing, jaundice, hoarseness, ulcer in the windpipe, diarrhea etc. are also there. The patient becomes weak day by day.
Treatment
- Grind 5 black peppercorns and 5 basil leaves and mix them with a spoon of honey and consume.
- Consuming wheat bran and ginger juice and a little salt and 5 basil leaves and 5 black peppercorns after grinding them is beneficial in this disease.
5. Asthma (breathing disease)
Cause and symptoms: When contraction occurs in the small muscles of the tubes carrying air in the lungs, then pain occurs and breathing becomes difficult. This condition is called breathing disease, asthma, tamak shwas and asthma in English. Usually this disease occurs in middle-aged men and women. This disease is also found to be hereditary. Apart from this, this disease is contracted due to nose disease, syphilis, bronchitis, disease of the uterus, nervous disorder, and staying in an environment of dust and smoke for a long time.This disease occurs in children due to the accumulation and drying of phlegm in the lungs and respiratory tract. Children often get this disease after measles or whooping cough.
The tension of asthmatic cough causes difficulty in breathing. The asthma in which less phlegm is produced is called dry asthma and the asthma in which more phlegm is produced is called wet asthma. During an asthma attack, the patient becomes very restless. There is high fever, diarrhea and difficulty in breathing. There is a hissing sound in the throat. Due to increased difficulty in breathing, the patient's face turns blue-yellow and the body becomes drenched in sweat. Some relief is felt when the phlegm is released. This disease troubles more in winter and rainy season. Its attack usually occurs in the morning.
Treatment
- Tulsi leaves, Brahmadandi, dry ginger, Kulmi and Kareri- grinding them in equal quantity and making a decoction and giving it to the patient in the morning and evening is beneficial.
- Consuming juice of 4 black Tulsi leaves mixed with honey is also beneficial.
6. Pneumonia (Pneumonia)
Causes and symptoms: Inflammation of the fibers of the lungs is called pneumonia. Pneumonia on one lung is called single pneumonia and pneumonia on both lungs is called double pneumonia. This disease suddenly increases after cold and cough. In this, fever suddenly rises. During fever, the patient breathes loudly. Dry and painful cough occurs. This disease occurs due to getting wet in water, feeling cold and consuming cold substances in excess. In the first stage, phlegm does not come out and in the second stage, red colored rust-like phlegm comes out. Inflammation in the lungs increases and there is severe pain in the chest.The fever rises rapidly. Pain in the ribs starts. The body becomes weak. Suddenly sweating stops and one feels cold. This disease occurs due to cold or infectious diseases in the heart, kidney and chest. There is severe pain in the chest on the side where pneumonia occurs in the lungs. There is no appetite, tongue becomes dry and black. Due to the disease, the patient has difficulty in breathing and changing sides. In the severe stage of the disease, the patient becomes unconscious while raving. If the heart stops or there is swelling in the other lung, it can even lead to death.
Treatment
- Massaging the chest with basil oil is beneficial.
- Grind basil leaves and five black peppers and make a decoction and drink it to get immediate relief.
7. Whooping cough (Kaali cough)
Cause and symptoms: In the initial stage of this disease, there is a severe cough and sometimes a slight fever. There is a cough attack. Relief is obtained by coming out a little mucus or vomiting. Due to the intense cough attack, blood also comes out of the nose or mouth. This cough attack occurs at night. The child suddenly wakes up from sleep and starts coughing. When the child coughs, he coughs like a dog. The face turns red while coughing and breathing becomes difficult. The body starts sweating. This disease is caused by a germ called 'Haemophilis', 'Pertussis' or 'Bacillus Pertussis'. This disease occurs more in children who have been affected by smallpox.It is identified by symptoms like 'whoop' sound while coughing, more cough attacks at night, face turning red while coughing, vomiting in the end etc. In the absence of proper treatment, TB, asthma or lung diseases occur.
Treatment
- Tulsi leaves and black pepper- Grind them in equal quantity and make pills. Giving the pill to the patient four to five times a day gives relief from cough.
- Giving honey of small bees and black basil juice to the patient for 7 days cures cough.
- Consuming the powder of dry basil leaves mixed with sugar candy gives relief from cough.
- Consuming 1 teaspoon of black basil juice in the morning, afternoon and night gives relief to the patient.
