Kadamba tree is famous for its use as timber, decorative items, paper, fragrant perfume from flowers, oil from seeds, lap etc. and for its special use as a medicine in Ayurveda. Kadamba tree is called by many names like Kadambika, Kadambikae, Rajkadamba, Dhulkidamba etc. In Ayurveda, the use of flowers, leaves, bark of Kadamba tree is capable of curing hundreds of diseases. According to religious beliefs, Lord Krishna used to make flute under Kadamba tree. Kadamba tree is also worshipped. Kadamba fruits are round, dark green, dark red in appearance. Flowers are pink, dark orange and dark red in colour and fragrant and bloom at the top of the fruits. Kadamba leaves are dark green in colour and in the shape of lemon, orange, Mahua leaves. Kadamba is a little pungent in taste, but is full of hundreds of medicinal properties.
Benefits of Kadamba tree
Cures fever- In case of persistent fever, grind 50 grams of Kadamba bark and 7-8 basil leaves and boil in 1 glass of water on low flame till the temperature reduces to less than half. When it cools down, take 2 spoons of this mixture three times a day to get instant relief from all kinds of fever.
Corrects digestive system- In case of gas, constipation and digestive problems, take 2 spoons of Kadamba fruit juice mixed with rock salt in the morning and evening to get rid of these problems. Kadamba is capable of correcting digestive system.
Cures wounds and injuries- Kadamba is helpful in curing injuries and pain. Grind equal amounts of Kadamba leaves and bark and boil them. When it becomes lukewarm, soaking it with Kadamba water with medicine is helpful in getting instant relief from wounds, injuries and pain.
Removes itching - Kadamba is helpful in removing all types of itching in the body. Finely grind Kadamba leaves and apply them along with the juice of the fruit on the affected areas to get relief instantly.
Swelling of hands and feet, sprain pain - For swelling of hands and feet, sprain pain, finely grind Kadamba seeds, leaves, bark and add 1 tsp salt to it and boil it. Then soaking a cotton cloth in the water and applying it gives instant relief from swelling and pain.
