Introduction:-
In case of spermatic defects due to thickening of the breathing pipe (trachea) and dust particles in syphilis, catarrh becomes chronic which is called chronic catarrh. There are two types of chronic catarrh- progressive stage of catarrh and chronic catarrh.
Progressive stage of catarrh:-
In this case, the fiber and membrane inside the nose are stretched due to chronic inflammation of the mucus membrane of the nose, due to which, the patient has difficulty in breathing. In this disease, watery secretion secretes from the nose in a substantial amount. Sometimes one nostril and sometimes both the nostrils get closed due to this secretion. The watery secretion secretes in the nose and throat, to bring it out, the patient has to expectorate. In this stage of catarrh, the patient feels headache, his hearing power starts to decrease and has symptoms of neuralgia.
Chronic Stage of Catarrh:-
In the chronic stage of catarrh, the mucus membrane inside the nose swells and foul-smelling discharge is secreted from the nose. When the aggravated stage of catarrh becomes chronic, it is called chronic stage of catarrh. The secretion inside the nose after drying gets formed. Blood also comes with this secretion. Foul smell emanates from the nose and the smelling power of the patient is affected (diminished).
Diseases and medicines used in it:-
1. Pulsatilla- Chronic catarrh attacks repeatedly after acute catarrh. Concentrated green or yellow discharge is secreted from the nose, which lacks tasting and smelling power. Foul-smelling mucus is secreted from the nose. The symptoms of the disease get aggravated in the evening and in a warm room. Thus, Pulsatilla 6 or 30 should be taken.
2. Kali-sulphur- In chronic catarrh, if after giving Pulsatilla the disease has subsided and only a wheezing sound is produced in the throat, then Kali-sulphur 3 or 12 should be taken.
3. Lycopodium- In the chronic stage of catarrh, this medicine is very useful. In this disease, the patient has to breathe through the mouth at night because of stoppage of nose. So, Lycopodium 30 should be used.
4. Sticta- Sticta 1x or 3 should be taken in symptoms like stoppage of nose, feeling of pain on forehead above the nose, dryness of nose, scabs forming inside the nose, dry cough, cough aggravated by breathing, etc.
5. Kali-Bichrom- If concentrated, hard and thready phlegm is secreted from the nose; feeling of pressure at the root of the nose; scabs form inside the nose; Lesions have appeared inside the nose and there is foul smell from the nose etc., Kali-Bichrome 3x or 6 should be taken.
6. Kali-Iod- If concentrated, hard, greenish or yellow and thready phlegm is secreted from the nose; feels pressure in the root of the nose etc., taking Kali-Iod 30 or its mother tincture is beneficial. This medicine is used to cure the disease which arises from the excess use of mercury.
7. He starts panting while coughing, feels choking and vomits with hoarseness. Thus, taking Antimon-Tart 6 or 30 is beneficial in this type of symptoms.
8. Arum-Met- Due to catarrh, the lesion gradually appears in the nose; scabs are formed inside the nose. Due to the lesion inside the nose, it closes up, by which the patient has difficulty in breathing. Concentrated foul smelling secretions discharge from the nose, due to which, sores appear in the nasal bone and he remains sad all the time and has a desire to commit suicide. Thus, using Arum-Met 6x or 200 is very effective to cure this disease.
9. Hepar-sulphur- In chronic catarrh, the nose stops up only after touching cold water. Thus, the patient should take Hepar-sulphur 30 in such symptoms. Some other treatment with the use of different medicines:-
The affected person should walk in open air and he should take bath with cold water in the morning, as it enables the body to bear the cold.
