Introduction
Mango fruit is considered Amrit fruit in the scriptures. It is grown in two ways. First, it is grown by sowing seeds which is called Biju or Desi mango. Second, the mango tree is grown by grafting. Its tree is 30 to 120 feet tall.
Its leaves are 10 to 30 cm long and 2.5 to 7 cm wide. Mango flowers are small and green-yellow in appearance. Flowers (Maur) grow in spring season and fruits grow in summer season. All parts of this tree are used as medicines.
Properties
According to the scriptures, mango fruit is sour, tasty, produces Vata and Pitta, but ripe mango is sweet, increases Dhatu (semen), increases strength, destroys Vata, cools, strengthens the heart, increases bile and makes the skin beautiful.
According to the Greeks, the taste of raw mango is sour, destroys bile, increases appetite, increases digestive power and relieves constipation.
After analyzing mango by scientists, it has been found that it contains 86% water, 0.4% fat, 0.4% minerals, 0.6% protein, 11.8% carbohydrate, 1.1% fiber, glucose etc.
Harmful effects
Consuming raw mango in excess quantity causes thinning of semen, pain in gums, high fever, eye disease, burning sensation in throat, gas in stomach and bleeding from nose etc. Eating mango on an empty stomach can be harmful for the body. Mango should not be eaten on an empty stomach. Excessive consumption of mango causes indigestion. Blood disorders and constipation occur. Eating excess dry mango powder weakens the semen and causes impotence.
Treatment for various diseases
1. Dry cough:
Dry cough is cured by roasting ripe mango in hot ash.
2. Insomnia:
Eating ripe mango with milk induces good sleep.
3. Lack of appetite:
Drinking mango juice mixed with rock salt and sugar increases appetite.
4. Anemia:
Mixing one teaspoon of honey in one glass of milk and one cup of mango juice and drinking it regularly in the morning and evening will be beneficial. Anemia is cured by drinking 300 ml of mango juice daily.
5. For teeth and gums:
Dental and gum diseases are cured by grinding mango kernel (seed inside the kernel) and using it as toothpaste. Teeth and gums are strengthened by grinding mango bark and leaves in equal parts and keeping it in mouth or gargling with it.
6. Habit of eating mud:
By mixing mango kernel powder with water and giving it to children 2-3 times a day, this habit is got rid of and stomach worms also die. If the child has a habit of eating mud, then giving mango kernel powder with fresh water is beneficial. Roasting the kernel and eating it like betel nut also helps in getting rid of the habit of eating mud.
7. Nose bleeding:
Put one drop of mango kernel juice in the patient's nose.
8. Spider poison:
By mixing raw mango powder with water and applying it on spider poison, the effect of the poison is removed. Applying ground kernels or grinding dry mango powder in water cures blisters.
9. Bleeding:
Use one spoon of mango kernel powder 3 times a day in case of piles and bleeding.
10. Burning due to fire:
Burn mango leaves and apply its ash on the burnt part. This cures the burnt part. Grinding the kernels with some water and applying it on the burnt part gives instant relief.
11. To strengthen the Dhatu:
Dry mango blossoms in the shade and make powder. Mix sugar candy in it and take 1 spoon each with milk regularly. This strengthens (thickens) the Dhatu.
12. Burning of hands and feet:
Rubbing mango flowers on hands and feet will be beneficial. Rubbing mango blossoms (flowers that come out before the fruit) cures the burning sensation in hands and feet.
13. Spleen enlargement (when the spleen enlarges):
Drinking 70 ml mango juice mixed with 15 grams honey daily for 3 weeks provides relief in swelling and wounds of the spleen. Do not eat sour things on the day of taking this medicine.
14. Rickets:
Soak raw mango powder and mix 2 teaspoons honey in it. Taking 1 teaspoon of this twice a day provides relief in rickets.
15. Kidney weakness:
Kidney weakness is cured by eating mango daily.
16. Indigestion:
Give about 10-15 grams of mango chutney to the patient twice a day in indigestion. Give 3-6 grams of mango seed powder twice a day in indigestion.
17. Thirst (feeling thirsty repeatedly):
Drink about 7 to 15 ml of fresh mango leaf juice or 15 to 30 ml of decoction of dried leaves with sugar 3 times a day. Mixing 10 grams of sugar candy in 50-60 ml decoction of kernels quenches intense thirst.
18. Burning in the body:
Make a paste of roasted or boiled raw mango pulp and apply it. Boil or roast mango fruit in water and make a paste of it and apply it on the body, it provides relief from burning sensation.
19. Diarrhea in children:
Use 7 to 30 grams of mango seed pulp and decoction of raw wood apple fruit 3 times a day.
Roast the kernel of mango. Make a powder of 1-2 grams and feed it with 1 teaspoon of honey twice a day. If there is dysentery (bloody diarrhea), grind the inner bark of mango in curd and apply it on the stomach.
20. Enlargement of liver-spleen:
Taking 10 ml fruit juice with honey 3 times a day cures the disease.
21. Beautiful, silky and long hair:
Applying mango seed oil turns white hair black and black hair does not turn white easily. It also helps in hair fall and dandruff.
22. Swarabhag:
Boil 50 grams of mango leaves in 500 ml water and add honey to one fourth of the remaining decoction and drink it slowly to get relief from Swarabhag.
23. Cough and Swarabhag:
Roast good ripe mango on fire. When it cools down, sucking it slowly cures dry cough.
24. Liver weakness:
In case of liver weakness (when there is loose stools and no appetite), boil 6 grams of mango leaves dried in shade in 250 ml water. When 125 ml of water remains, filter it and add some milk and drink it in the morning to get relief.
25. Dysentery in pregnant women:
5-5 grams of old mango kernel powder with honey or water, 2 hours before meals, 3 times a day is beneficial. Salted rice can be taken without adding ghee in the meal.
26. Hair fall:
By grinding soft twig leaves and applying them, hair becomes long and black. Grind raw mango peels with leaves, mix oil and keep in the sun. By applying this oil, hair fall stops and hair becomes black.
27. Vomiting and diarrhea:
Grind 10 fresh soft mango leaves and 2-3 black peppers in water and make pills. Vomiting and diarrhea, which does not stop with any medicine, stops with this.
28. Increasing appetite:
By consuming decoction or powder of mango flowers (blossoms) or by mixing one-fourth part of sugar candy in their powder, consuming them is beneficial in diarrhoea, gonorrhoea, increasing appetite.
29. Spermatorrhea (sperm disorder):
10-20 ml mango flower juice mixed with 10 grams of sugar is very beneficial in spermatorrhea.
30. Leucorrhoea in women:
Consuming grafted mango flowers fried in ghee is very beneficial in leucorrhoea. Its quantity is 1-4 grams.
